This was Blinxfrost's idea but he didn't post a forum topic so im posting this. Sega, unlike Nintendo, doesnt have a problem porting their games to PC. Their mascot Sonic is as much or more (id say more) fun than Mario, and has lots of games that run on Windows. Now its time for Mac OS X! Sonic Superstar Tennis and Sonic and Sega All-Star Racing are being ported to Mac by Feral so we dont need to port those. Reply if there are ports of Sonic games i dont have listed. Heres is a list of Sonic wrappers.

Add Sonic CD. Only steam version can works on Wine. See this: http://appdb.winehq....cation&iId=8633

I already bought steam version. it's for $2.99 cheap on steam summer sale. I do not test it on wineskin without my laptops. I built my new gaming rig. I'm waiting for new CPU. I will do hackintosh on my old 80GB hard drive. I'm excited!

For what it's worth, sonic the hedgehog 1, 2, 3, 3&knuckles, spin ball, 3D blast should run just fine under a sega genesis emulator.

I don't want piracy in my life. I always buys and supports SEGA developer on GOG.com and Steam. I think official PC version is already using own official genesis emulator because I saw SEGA already developed own official genesis emulator for iOS and PC. It's true.

I personally feel better supporting an os x genesis emulator. Some of these games I've bought and have been playing for like the past 15 years, on the console and emulation, probably way before the ports came out on PC, too.

Oh, well, I don't have Genesis console and rom dumped. (I love dump wii disc!) I already bought and played virtual console (wii) version and iOS version. They are fine for me.

Dude, I knew about that. I don't said Linux. I said "on Wine".

AppDB said Steam version is works on Wine.

However, Sonic Generations full version is not portable because it requires .NET 3.5.

Sonic R doesn't seem to open... I open the game file, and nothing happens. The application opens, but never starts (i.e. it says "Sonic R" in the Finder bar at the top of the screen, but the game never launches). OSX 10.7.5.

I'm afraid I'm not entirely certain how to do that (I'm completely unfamiliar with WINE, I was just hoping for a little nostalgia trip and got lucky). However, I did purchase the Mountain Lion update last night, which is what Alsey up there is using, so that should fix my problems when I install it, right?

1. Update Wineskin Winery because it's master wrapper. http://cl.ly/JcjS If you don't have it. Just download it from Wineskin website.
2. Update Sonic Wrapper using Wineskin Advanced Setting. http://cl.ly/Jcff (You can find and open Wineskin.app inside Sonic R.app like Show package contest.)

Why Update? Because

doh123 said:

OS X 10.8.2 and OS X 10.7.5 broke Wineskin, Crossover, and just about all other Wine usage with OpenGL. The bug has been found, and is part of X11/xorg. (XQuartz).

Forgive my incompetence. I have downloaded what appear to be the necessary files, or at least I think I have (latest versions of the Base Engine, Master Wrapper, and WS9 CX from the Mediafire link on the Wine website), but nothing I have looks at all like this "Wineskin Winery" program you have. In addition, the Sonic R program does launch now, but only through "Test Run." Trying to open the file itself merely opens Wineskin (which I did update to 2.5.8), which then asks if I want to install software. Also, though Sonic R will open via "Test Run," it crashes when I try to change resolution. I'm really sorry to bother you about this...

Ah, thanks. Got Winery, however, trying to open Sonic R still greets me with the generic Wineskin window, prompting to Install Software, Advanced, or Quit.

Yeah.
Don't you have the game?
We don't supply games, but means to get your PC games to run on mac.
You have to get your game somewhere else.

If I understand correctly, this is a full back up of the game. I don't have the disc with me right now (at college, left the game at home), so I figured it should work. Plus, it HAS worked, just only through test run (well, actually, it ran once, but crashed immediately).

With regards to playing Sonic R, Sonic Gems Collection (Which includes the PC version of Sonic R) runs perfectly on Dolphin emulator. Just a heads up!
