Google Account Sign Up / Log In

16 July 2012 - 05:11 PM

You can now sign up or log in through a Google Account on our website.
It's a feature we've always wanted to have on this Board, to let users sign up without the captcha/activation email hassle.

This is mainly useful to People who have not signed up already; so if you already have an account here, there's not much new besides one less password for you to remember.

Creating a new account here through Google works like this:

- There are three ways to sign in/sign up: (pick whatever you prefer, all buttons perform the same function)
click the Google Icon Posted Image on the top right corner
OR
click the "Sign In" Button right next to it then the "Posted Image Use Google" Button
OR
click the green "Create Account" Button then the "Posted Image Sign in with Google" Button.

After you click the Posted Image Button it takes you to Google's Page where you type in your @gmail or @googlemail email and your email Password.
Then Google redirects you back to us and you can choose what display name you'd like here.
And that's it.

The Google Sign up method uses official Google APIs and is very secure.
People who sign up with Facebook or Twitter use the same procedure.
The Google login is much faster though, creating an account is as quick as you'd need to type in your email address and a display name.

Note:
You need to have a Google email address or another Google Account (Labs, Code, etc) to use the Google login feature.
If you already made an account normally here, and associated a @gmail email address with it, you can use the Google login method too.

If you only used the Google Sign in feature to log in here, you do not have a normal Forum password made for your account here.
The Button "Password" shows up besides the Sign Out Button to let you choose a password, so you can also log in with your username and password here (and not depend on Google's services)

HTML Emails

16 July 2012 - 04:30 PM

Since the last Board update, the HTML emails are working again now. (they were broken before)

The emails you get now should look more fancy then the 'txt like' emails you've got up to now.

HMTL Emails were enabled across the Board, including:
- registration
- activation
- daily/weekly/monthly digests
- lost password
- email renewal
- comment added
- friend added
- status changed
- PM's recieved
- Ports broken
- topic/forum/Ports subscriptions
- warnings received
and lots of others.

Let me know if something looks out of place.

Tutorial Requests Section

22 June 2012 - 01:37 PM

A great number of new people here don't know even the basic stuff, like uploading a Wrapper somewhere or splitting it in segments.
Or what to do with a .7z or .dmg file once they downloaded them. Or uploading a picture somewhere and not hotlinking it from another site.

Can a little 'Tutorial Requests' section be useful to give us an idea what these people are missing?

But, since i know that almost none of you guys ever bother to write tutorials here; be it reasons of 'not my problem' or 'i thought everybody knew this',  i don't know if tutorial requests that are posted there will actually find a Tutorial in the Tutorial Tab above....

Opinions please.

Wineskin Central v1.0.0

29 May 2012 - 12:49 AM

Here is currently Wineskin Central version 1.0.0

It's still rough around the edges, and a lot of features are missing that the old CXEx Central had, but i'm getting there.
Please test it thoroughly; Wrapper creation, Engine download, file compression, upload utility, Wine Killer, Uninstall Button, etc.

I have just finished testing the update code, works well as far as my test go, so the next updates to WS Central should come quickly and easy to get.

There are a few oddities still remaining in the app (2x 7za in the App, Upload Utility has some now broken file hosters like Megaupload still in it and the old 'Ex' icon), among some other little things.
All features concerning Central Wrapper creation are currently disabled, well, because there are no Wineskin Central Wrapeprs yet, only standard Wineskin Wrappers.

The next update will get rid of the oddities mentioned above and maybe add the useful installer function already, and in the meantime i will get to work on the Central Wrappers.
(The Wrappers that have custom Laucher screens and built in readme screens among other things)

Because Wineskin Central is still running at 1/3 or 1/4 of CXEx Central's capacity in terms of features, i do not have a merge with Winery in mind at this current state. Winery would get worse :P
When everything's working in WS Central, i'll speak again with doh for this case...

P.S.: Graphics aren't really my thing if i don't have some base material to work with, so the Icons throughout the app mind seem a bit plain now.
(on CXEx' Icons i spent a good few weeks, don't quite have the time here)

Mid to High-end hackintosh Graphics Card in SL or Lion

24 May 2012 - 07:41 PM

i'm not quite up to with the hackintoshing scene anymore, it's been two or three years now since i build a hack.

For a graphics card, i used the nvidia 9800GTX+, a card that has awesome driver support via a kext file in Snow Leopard and lion.
While being an awesome card more than 4 years ago, it's just plain slow nowadays, and even runs skyrim in Win 7 like a dog with medium settings.

Does somebody recommend a good graphics card that's basically on the high end side today that works in mac hack OS X?
As i see Apple is preferring the AMD cards since a good now and giving nvidia the cold shoulder.

I had a failed experiment before with the nvidia GTX470 before, i bought the card (with dafootballers recommendation that it works in OSX), the drivers for this card sucked badly.
see here, a few years back
http://www.insanelym...dpost&p=1528303
this card now sits in my HTPC for gaming under the TV, so i'd need to get another one.

Any recommendation for a (really working in OSX) card?
there are some cards posted in the osx86wiki, but most are older and it does not mention performance
(also i'm willing to leave my trusty snow cat behind and upgrade to the Lion mess OS if the new card requires it)
