#97152 skyrim mac lag

The fact that the 9400M is too slow to run this at acceptable speeds is probably the reason. You cannot expect a lag free experience on that GPU.

#96320 Can you Port an Xbox 360 game onto Mac?

Well technically if you were the developer it would be possible because they have access to the source code and they can make a mac/pc port out of the source code.
But for us users the only way we are ever going to get to run these console exclusives on pc/mac is through emulators . But sadly pc hardware isn't powerful enough to emulate the consoles yet , so the answer to your question would be NO .
Lets hope the next gen gaming consoles using x86 gives us a better chance of emulation! would be wonderful to play killzone 4 on my pc!

#95703 GeForce GTX 680 Mac Edition

This is great and all , till you look at the price -_-  at $599 the gtx 680 mac edition is $120 more then the pc equivalent of the card : http://www.newegg.ca...N82E16814130768
Wouldn't it be cheaper to just buy a pc version of the card and install it , from what i remember its possible to get a pc version of the card running on a mac pro with a few simple hacks .

You could, but you won't get boot screen f.ex.

Mac Pro owners have earlier only had the option to either use a hacked card, or officially either a GTX285 or a Quadro card (which costs like $1500 and upwards).
Now they can get a new compatible card for like a third of the cost of a Quadro.

Here is a "worst case scenario" for AMD/ATi users for pro use:

You will actually use a full work day (436 minutes= 7 hours and 16 minutes) to render something on an AMD card that you could do in minutes on a NVidia card :P

I guess if you live on using After Effects, you can afford the $100 premium for a mac branded version

#94544 I AM LEAVING PORTINGTEAM

Posted cluthz on 04 March 2013 - 10:49 AM

ok..

Happened to me, twice.
First megaupload shut down, and I had all my ports there.
Then mediafire did delete my files, for some unknown reason.
I lost some ports each time, but the popular ones is never hard to get a hold of again.

But, I don't give up that easy.

#94537 Why wrappers over wine?

Posted doh123 on 04 March 2013 - 02:22 AM

THe thing that always ticked me off about Wine and Crossover, was updating to a new version, and breaking several programs that used to work... one reason I wanted to have self contained apps that worked and didn't get broken by just trying ot get some other program working.

Speed will be the same.
Pros with normal wine is that it will take less space.
Cons is that you won't get a self-contained app, you won't have a GUI.
You will also need to make different prefixes for each app that need a different configuration.

Also you are using wine, and you are a part of the thriving wine community.
Wineskin is just a tool that puts wine into a GUI with it's own x server, you are using the same wine.
