Why is this still pinned? o_O

My suggestion is un-stick that.

I mean, we all encourage people to not use CX anymore, to use Wineskin (or Cider in some cases) instead when they ask for help.
Then isn't kinda weird having that pinned at the top of the tutorials section?

I was wondering if this may be one of the reason for having still "a lot" of persons asking for help on porting X or Y with CX just to get "well it wont run on OSX 10.8 anw, but where your logs are?" as an answer .

Wineskin doesn't detects GPU correctly

01 November 2012 - 02:42 AM

Hi,

Well, as tittle suggest, i'm having some problems for making Wineskin recognize my GPU.

Why i think is wineskin?
Well, i tried using Kronenberg's Wine.app with a custom wine "engine", not the one it had by default cuz his build sucks. This engine is exactly the same i used on the Wineskin Wrapper (when i say same, i mean copy&paste).

The result:
Got the GPU recognized correctly on Wine.app but i got "Direct3D HAL" on Wineskin.

Hey, is the prefix then!
Nope, i used the wrapper's prefix for both.

Well, its about your windows application...
No its not, it happened with different applications before (i did tested each case with Wine.app and MyCoolWrapper.app).

Any hint?

Puyo Puyo Fever - Black screen

20 October 2012 - 05:31 PM

Hi!

So yeah, i was trying to get this game working on top of latest stable release of Wineskin as of now (the game has a "needed" launcher and splash screen before entering the game itself so didn't tried Cider). After setting language to japanese and rebuilding the Wrapper the game installed (it fails if you don't rebuild the wrapper first o.o -any hint about this Doh?- ). Btw, the game is not listed neither on Wine HQ nor CrossOver site.

Anw, after installing it and running it for the first time i got that the game reported being running at fairly nice speed, about 40-60 FPS, i were able to navigate menus and heard the sounds, music and voices... But got only a black screen, except for the frame rate text, i got no images at all, never seen those menus nor the characters, zero graphics, nada, sound only.

What i tested along with the different engines:
  • Virtual desktop
  • Full screen and windowed modes
  • Running the game on Direct3D & DirectDraw modes although a dialog always pops and -i can't read japanese but- it said something about reverting the settings and running on Direct3D mode.
  • At some point i read someone suggesting installing windows media and others codecs for solving a similar black screen problem on some other game, so codecs tested also.
Have to point that i almost never touched the registry but anw. Everything results on the same thing, black screen with nice sound. So i feel in need to ask for your help guys. I'll paste the logs below, i personally think the key is on case A but i don't even know how to interpret those lines so i'll post other someway important logs.

Thanks for the patience reading this, any help is much appreciated.

Case Logs & explanation:
Wine Log A
I got this log (maybe minor/despicable variations depending on engine) using any Wine engine with native DLLs, tested on 1.5.13, 1.5.14 1.5.15 with and without Software Blend/ATi Shader patches. Used Wine 1.5+ because if i remember correctly game crashed after launch on Wine's older than 1.4.1 when i tried porting it some ages ago.

Wine Log B
Got this when using CX11.2.0NoXInput & CX11.2.2 engines. At the end is quite similar log to that of case A

Wine Log C
Using Wine 1.5.13 patched with Software blend + ATi Fix no reserved. Using Microsoft's Direct X 9 Redistributable from Winetricks. In this case the problem went to worst; the game didn't crashed (pretty stable as always) but i lost not only the image, but the sound also. Game reported being running at fairly good speed though, about 40 FPS.

Wine Backtrace
I got this once when the game crashed (only once). Engine this time was WS9 Wine 1.5.13 patched with Software blend + ATi Fix no reserved. Using Wine's native DLLs. Same, got sound without image.

X11
I'm pretty sure the problem isn't here, but anw.

Best regards
