#96852 Skyrim Wine-Wrapped?

Posted ovvldc on 15 May 2013 - 11:01 PM

Well, you might try Wineskin wrapper 2.5.10beta4 instead of 2.5.9, as it sometimes gives pain. But if you can run Skyrim without mods, that probably isn't it.

As for myself, I have a wrapper with SKSE_loader that I made and It works fine. I also notice you have 512 MB VRAM, which is the minimum officially required (never mind that I can run it on 256MB) so if you are adding lots of textures and visual effects things may get bogged down (but possibly still not crash).

Cluthz definitely has a point on the custom d3d dlls, which would be my first place to look.

Could you try adding mods one by one until you find the culprit?

You could just put fallout NV in windowed mode , then ALT-TAB out of the game , and then use cmd+Shift+4 or cmd+Shift+3

Ah, what kind of hard drive? I've been rockin' the Solid State Drives for a while now! Don't think i'll ever go back! haha.
If you give Fez a shot, let me know if its successful or not with Mono! :)

Will do.

And it is just an HDD (Seagate 750 gig 7200RPM) - I would have went with a solid state - however I only replaced it because the HDD died - and was still under warranty. Next drive will be solid state - have had 2 drives die on me in the last while.

Since everything was backed up I lost nothing. Only thing good with about a dieing hard drive is an excuse to do a fresh Mac OS X install ;)

Find out the specific version of VCRedist you need, then try it via winetricks.
Unless you're already doing so.

#95977 Creation of a blank wrapper with 1.5.28 hangs

they changed in 1.5.28 to run the Mac Driver by default.. this screws up wrapper creation some, and will leave things hung up.  You can kill X11 and get past it and create wrappers... but anytime a wineprefix is made, its before there are reg files so the defaults are all you have.  I need to add in some code to better run when the MacDriver is doing all that.

You shouldn't have any issues with Winetricks though... if you killed the wrapper creation and somehow it didn't make the wineprefix right, then I can see all kinds of things screwing up.

My wrappers come as far as /tmp/ :) Can copy them out afterwards tho

#95848 Experiences with native Mac driver?

Posted DankoB on 11 April 2013 - 09:05 AM

Agreed, I've tried Fallout 3. Shadow of Chernobyl and Clear Sky with the Mac driver as opposed to X11 and the gameplay is unparallelled. Much smoother indeed and Fallout 3 plays like it is nearly native to Mac OSX. All in all I'm very pleased with the advances the driver has taken and doh123's work in implementing it into Wineskin.

#95834 Skyrim: Dragonborn DLC?

Posted DuoVandal on 10 April 2013 - 06:24 PM

I'm currently enjoying Skyrim on my Mac wrapper, it's a hard copy not running off steam. And I've gone through and installed Dawnguard and the Dragonborn DLC and a few small cosmetic mods. The mods and Dawnguard are working perfectly fine but the Dragonborn DLC doesn't appear to be working at all.

I have completed the quest Horn of Jurgen Windcaller, which is needed for the Cultists to attack you. The boat didn't appear before or after the quest was finished.

I've installed it exactly the same as the Dawnguard DLC which is working as I have the quest for that.

I have the most recent patch for the game 1.9, I installed straight to that (I assume it installs all the prior patches as well since Dawnguard is working.)

I have it listed in the Plugins.txt document with all my other mods/dlc with the .esm being over the .bsa file. And all the DLC/Mods are in my data folder.

Not had any errors at all with anything else, everything seems to work perfectly.

My Mac OS X Version:
Mac OSX 10.8.3

My Mac Model, GPU & CPU:
AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB, 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7

Edit: I appologize. I should have put a bit more effort into fiddling with it myself. I fixed it by removing the Dragonborn.bsa and Dragonborn.esm files to my desktop, deleting the Dragonborn.bsa/esm lines in the Plugins.txt file. Waited about a minute and placed the files back and readded the two lines with .esm being top as usual but now with the Dragonborn part being at the bottom under my mods. Feel silly for this post now but if anyone happens to search here with the same issue they'll have a solution.

#95807 What is your most universal wrapper?

Posted SilentJacket on 09 April 2013 - 04:07 PM

really?

Man, SSDs are great, I can create a blank one in about 30 seconds

E: just timed it,

it takes 18 seconds for me to make a blank wrapper
