Call of Duty: World at War, the fifth installment of the Call of Duty series, features a more mature theme than previous installments in the series. The game is also open-ended, as there are multiple ways to complete objectives. The gameplay of World at War shares several features with previous iterations of the franchise. Once again, players fight alongside AI-controlled teammates. They help during the game's missions by providing cover fire, shooting down enemies, and clearing rooms for entry.
The game's return to World War II-era warfare reintroduces weapons and technology that have been seen in other games in the Call of Duty franchise, including the Thompson submachine gun, the Mosin-Nagant rifle, and the Panzerschreck anti-tank rocket launcher. The player gains access to these over the course of the game, but may only carry up to two weapons in addition to hand grenades. Weapons from fallen foes can be picked up to replace weapons in a player's arsenal. Players can also find weapons with additional attachments, including guns equipped with rifle grenades, telescopic sights, and bayonets.

Personal Notes:
UPDATE 16.2.2011
I need you help for the next update.
I have still some issues with the game in version 1.7.

The singleplayer works now, but i cannot find a working lan fix exe.
I found one on gamecopyworld, that does throw errors at me.
Please post lan fix exes for version 1.7 here with sha1 checksums,
so we make sure, that you are not linking to the same executable.
To get it's checksum open the terminal and type "openssl sha1 "
and drag&drop the lanfix.exe to your terminal window. Then hit enter
and there is the checksum.

For the multiplayer. I cannot get official profiles for users of the orginal game
to work, maybe because I cannot test it very well, because I did not buy the game.
(Just got it from a friend, because mainly the nazi zombies are interesting for me.)
So I am trying to get private servers to work.
For them I need to start a little exe file, that provides the patch at runtime, via pressing
F3, while in-game. So I need a windows programmer, who writes a very small exe,
that does just open the "CoD 5 1.7 Privat Client Patch.exe" file (the client patcher and can
rename it, if necessary), sleeps a second and starts the codwawmp.exe.
Very basic I think, but I never programmed on windows.
(a bat file would not work in Cider, it needs to be an exe-file. Best would be
coded in c++, I think. It should not require any runtimes, if you can only code .net
apps, it would not be very helpful.)

I do not plan to release this wrapper, before not any of this functions are working.
A wrapper for just use the singleplayer and therefore just the half of the game,
is not what I want.

UPDATED 11.4.2010
- Changes:
ATi Fix is included in the wrapper download
Wrapper has now a nice installer
Release v1.0 (!)
UPDATED 6.4.2010 !
- Changes:
Now it's a Cider Wrapper, with much better performance, faster loading times and SOUND!
UPDATED 20.2.2010 !

Requirements
OS: Tested on Snow Leopard 10.6.3, minimum system version of this wrapper is 10.6.2.
(But I don't give support to 10.6.2 users, cause there is no reason to skip this update.
10.6.3 OpenGL 3.0 features are highly recommend for the game.)
CPU:  Core 2 Duo 1.8 GHz or higher
GPU:  min. 256MB RAM, good card needed to run it at highest details. (e.g. my 8600M GT runs at medium details.)
ATi X1600 not supported. Intel GMA not supported.
RAM:  min. 1GB RAM
Hard Disk Space: 8,2 GB

Known issues:

-  Online-Multiplayer isn't working for me, but for a friend of mine. Just try it out, I don't know why it don't works for some people.

-  Mods can crash the game. (See notes to install them)

- You have to start the singleplayer app one time before starting the multiplayer app. Without launching the singleplayer app before launching the multiplayer app, you game will crash every start! With this warning: "Could not copy Preferences Folder". If this happens to you, open Terminal and type "sudo rm ~/Preferences/Call\ of\ Duty\ -\ World\ at\ War\ Preferences".

Installation instructions:

Make sure that you have your install folder of CoD WaW before installing.
GREAT NEW WRAPPER INSTALLER! JUST SELECT YOUR
CoD WaW - FOLDER AND THE INSTALLER DOES THE REST FOR YOU (!)

I tested it with version 1.5! No guaranty that it works with other version. If you use another version you should change the version registry key found in system.reg. For me 1.6 or 1.7 never worked! Just stay at 1.5.

If you don't need the multiplayer app, just delete it. But don't delete the singleplayer.app it is necessary to run multiplayer.

Cooperative Multiplayer (LAN) works without an online profile!

MOD Install

Navigate to "User -> Library -> Preferences -> Call of Duty - World at War Preferences -> p_drive -> User -> Local Settings -> Application Data -> Activision -> CoDWaW -> mods". If the mods folder doesn't exists, add it. Place your mods there.
You can only do this after the first launch of Call of Duty World at War.

Performance infos / other infos:

Great performance with the new Cider Wrapper.
Not as good as windows, but very nice.

Full game with Cider and a nice installer is on the way!
Have fun :D

:Yahoo!: Really nice thanks!  :good:
very cool time for some zombies!

btw did you try a cracked server?
No cracked servers were tried.
btw, I tested it on leopard. This Cider Wrapper doesn't seems to work on Tiger and Leopard anymore....
Sorry.
Thanks !!!! work really nice !!
Any ATI support for this? I've got it ready to go....amazing job by the way....everything works so smooth except when the game starts the screen is totally white, I can see the names of the good guys appear so my mouse is working and the audio works, it just doesn't seem to render properly. Has anybody come across this before....I changed the anti-aliasing and the anistoropic filtering but nothing...all in all though this is yet another superb Drakulix release, nicely done!
THX, DankoB!
I couldn't test it on ATI. This was a very fast uploaded port.
I wanted to share the first good working Call of Duty - World at War Wrapper
cause for me it's amazing to play it with sound! There was no testing on other macs.
Only on my mac with 10.6.3 and nVidia GeForce 8600M GT.
Full port with nice installer is also on the way. But I don't know how to fix
it on ATI or Leopard, but I think that only the X1600 is a big problem.
It's is really too old. You should buy a new mac. ^^

@Everyone with another ATI card please feedback.
I am actually going to buy a new Mac....my Tax refund will be coming in within the month and I'm getting a new MBP 2.8 GHZ nVidia 9600GM with 512 MB of vRam as soon as it does.....I am totally stoked....I'm thinking about maybe keeping this for testing purposes but I know this card is basically already archaic.

Thanks again for all your hard work Drak!

Hi
I'm using the latest iMac 27" (CPU 3.06 GHz, 6 Gb RAM, ATI Radeon HD 4670, OS 10.6.3, the basic model with all updates). Also WaW from my PC updated to 1.5...

I am getting the white screen problem too.

I was thinking would the ATI Fix files from Modern Warfare 2 that I found in the Cider wrapper here work???? I imagine not but I would love to play this on my Mac, instead of turning on my PC...

I hope someone comes up with a fix, since from what I've seen it would look better on the port than it does on the PC...
Hi again

Well I tried the ATI fix from MW2. No dice. It changed nothing. So I hope someone will work it out soon. Dying to play the game on my Mac.
I will take a look at the MW2 Ati fixes.
Please wait. For now this wrapper doesn't seems to work on ati.
this include the lastest patch
Drakulix

Thanks a lot man... and tons of good luck getting this sorted. I think a lot of people are buying the new iMacs and the new Mac Intel machines with ATI graphics on them. You're gonna be total hero if you make it work for this new crowd. I've played all the CoD franchise, and WaW is definitely my favourite.

Thanks again. And good luck (again!)... Waiting to see your next post.
FIRST ALPHA ATi FIX:

EDIT:
ATi Fix 1 doesn't work. Offline now!
OK so here are the results of the patch:

I did as you instruct, moved the game out of the wrapper, unpacked the original skin and patched it. Replaced the game into the skin.

First try it started up to only a black screen, now movies no logos nothing.

Second time around, it gave me this error message: Error during initialization: Unhandled exception caught. This is after both starting in safe mode and not.

Every third or so try it starts as it did the first time into a black screen that goes nowhere. The patch told me it was successfully installed so I don't think the problem is there. I checked the info.plist and it confirms that version 1 of ATI fix was applied.

One note also. I have played the game through to the end on Boot Camp on this same machine and there was no problem with the ATI when I ran it under Windows 7 on Boot Camp!!!! So is this a Mac specific problem?
Okay, same results on my nVidia mac, so the patch is the problem not my graphic card.
Ignore this patch. It isn't working.

@Vishy
Thx for trying. You have done right with the patch.
Mac OS is not the problem. The problems are (I'm not sure) the bad ATI Mac Drivers.
You can get around this problems with some tweaking but it's hard. For me it's even
harder cause I have no ATI Card to try it out.. Next patch maybe tomorrow.
