If this port works well, please leave a rating!

  • Chrome or Firefox must be used to correctly download from Mega.co.nz!
  • Use 7zX to extract the .dmg file. Open the DMG and drag the wrapper to your desktop.
  • If you are new to porting/using wrappers, please visit this page: http://portingteam.c...-downloaded-it/
  • IF YOU ARE AN AMD USER THAT USES OSX Lion 10.7.5: You will probably (most likely) experience severe lag. Please try and upgrade to 10.8.3 since wine does not function well with AMD GPUs and 10.7.5..
Dead Island is an action role-playing survival horror video game developed by Techland and published by German studio Deep Silver[5] for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It is centered on the challenge of surviving a zombie-infested open world island with a major emphasis on melee combat. It was originally announced at E3 2006,[6] but was pushed back to 2011. It was released on September 6, 2011 in North America, September 9, 2011 in the PAL regions and October 20, 2011 in Japan. Dead Island features an apparent open world roaming, divided by relatively large areas, and played from a first-person perspective. Most of the gameplay is built around combat and completing quests. Dead Island is an action role-playing game and uses experience-based gameplay and character customization. The player earns XP by completing tasks and killing enemies. Upon leveling up, the player gains health and stamina, and can invest one skill point into a skill tree.

Personal Notes:

- Game runs well on reasonably high settings but there are often some low frame drops.

My System Specs:

- OS: OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.2
- CPU: Intel Core i7 2600k @ 4.2GHz
- RAM: 16GB 1600MHz
- Video: 2GB MSI GTX 670 OC Edition
- SSD: Samsung 840 120GB

Known Issues:

- IMPORTANT: On lower systems, this game may lag. I recommend if this is the case that you play at a low resolution, graphics settings and perhaps look for an optimised settings file.

Installation:

  • Right click the wrapper, show package contents and Steam Setup
  • Let steam install.
  • Once its installed, go into wineskin.app within the wrapper, next to the steam setup launcher, and click on advanced.
  • Change the 'Windows EXE' line to: /Program Files/Steam/steam.exe and then exit wineskin.app.
  • Finally, run the wrapper, steam will launch, sign in to your steam account and download Dead Island. Once its downloaded, click play!

Now, whenever you launch the wrapper, it will sign into steam and allow you to launch your game via your 'Steam Game Library'.

For 'non steam users':
Please note that I do not (in any way) promote piracy and that I highly recommend you PURCHASE the games that you want to play!

  • Right click the wrapper, show package contents and launch wineskin.app, then select install new software.
  • Locate the setup.exe file (that is within the .ISO you probably downloaded, if you download a .ISO file, double click it to mount it!) and install the PC files by going through the setup.
  • -- Don't bother installing directx and vcrun if it asks you too. --
  • Then, go back into the contents of the wrapper, go to: drive_c ----> Program Files ----> Dead Island (make sure your Dead Island folder is named EXACTLY this) then drag/paste in the appropriate NoCD crack that works with the version of the game you have downloaded.

The last step is to launch the wrapper!

Please post some feedback on how this runs on your graphics card! Information on all cards would be great!

Cheers,

- Dan.

Did you experience the save issue with your port of the game?
Sweet also beat me to it...will have to try this tomorrow. I have the dev preview (the dev preview is the version steam put out on day one by accident) but am buying it tomorrow hopefully. I tried the dev preview a little bit in wine 1.3.24 after watching a vid of a guy on ubuntu and it ran smooth on all low settings and 1024x768 rez with the occasional lag (around 15 to 20 fps) so I would probably rate it green with 1.3.24. And the save issue was because deep silver gave there developer preview to steam instead of the final release and soon after put up the final release. They said that the saves were not compatible with the final version and were deleted by the final version installation. Thanks again :)

Edit: This made me lol
-Make sure there is a 7.25gb 'Dead Island' folder in the Program Files within the wrapper.

I dont even have the game yet , thats the funny part

Edit1-@Razorpro the save game issue was actually because of the leaked version the dev's let out on steam by mistake. I think it's fixed with skid row update 2 ... The rest you can figure out because I'm not supposed to discuss piracy here :)
Also I think you actually need a 512mb vram card to actually run this decently

Edit1- Cant get this game to run because i don't have the minimum system requirements for my gfx. Gives me the error can't Initialize renderer  ... i hate my computer.......
I was waiting for this! Thanks for the port Im gonna try this now and will report with results!

I got same error.
play sound only with black screen on ATI.
I've looked at it all and my Nvidia 320M should be able to handle it? o.o

Specs:
MacBook Pro 7,1 Late 2010 model
GPU: Nvidia 320M 256mb
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4Ghz
RAM: 4GB DDR3

My specs are better than the computer in the video... why am I getting this renderer error?

Maybe because the 320m isn't as good as the minimum system requirement's for gpu which is the 8600gt. Plus you need 512mb of vram to at least play the game.

Edit1- Also your cpu is not good enough for the game too. You need a 2.66 core 2 duo to run this game...
What are the specs on the MacBook that OP is running the game on?
well doesn't seem like i should try my specs are similar to Firaenix, doubt il get better results
