The series makes its way back to its West Coast roots in Obsidian's upcoming postapocalyptic role-playing game. There will definitely be gambling in Fallout: New Vegas. Whether or not the other wonders of Las Vegas--like buffets--will be included remains to be seen, but for now, we were assured that once you make your way to the strip, there will be a variety of ways to give up your hard-earned cash. At the Bethesda Gamers Day held in Las Vegas, Obsidian presented an hour-long demo of its upcoming role-playing game set in the dry and desolate Mojave Wasteland. Several members of the development team came from Black Isle Studios--the creators of Fallout and Fallout 2--so the game's story and setting will likely feel more familiar to those who had played the first two games.

Personal Notes:
- Only tested with SKiDROW release
- Update 7 Recommended
- DLC is working Fine
- Includes FOMM. Open the Wrapper and Run FOMM.app

Order of Files:

CUSTOM BUILT ON 22/09/2012! - HOSTER: MEDIAFIRE

- This over from appdb for FO3:

Quote

If you have 2 or more cores, do the following:
1) Open ~/Documents/My Games/FalloutNV/FALLOUT.INI
2) Find bUseThreadedAI=0 and change it to bUseThreadedAI=1
3) Add iNumHWThreads=2 after bUseThreadedAI=1
4) Save file

Minimum System Requirements:
-OS: Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard / Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard / Mac OS X 10.7 Lion
- CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
- RAM: 2048 MB
- Video: nVidia 8xxx Series or AMD 4xxx Series Video Card recommended
- Apple's X11 must be installed
- 7.51GB Hard Drive Space required

Known Issues:
- Has Memory Leaks (known Wine bug) - Tried playing for 45 minutes - no crash
- Slow Performance on open areas - Set to low settings and no AF / AA
- Crashes when entering GoodSprings Store - looks fixed
- Randomly shows icon texture where it shouldn't. Goes away after a while.
- Choppy performance in some areas

Installation:
- drag and drop installation folder from Program Files or install using wineskin installer.
- After that run the included FalloutPreferences app to setup your graphics settings, but DO NOT run the game from the Launcher.
- DO NOT Install DirectX, or the VC Redistributable at the end of the installation, as it will result in very slow framerates.
- Install SKiDROW Update 3 after installation. It fixes many issues
- Open wineskin, go to Advanced > Tools > Wine Registry Editor. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Wine > Direct3D and set the key "VideoMemorySize" to the amount of Ram on your VIDEO card. (the preset is 256). This will stop the crashes.
- If you don't see the VideoMemorySize property in the registry editor you will need to add it yourselves.
Alternatively, you can Fn+Click the wrapper, go to Advanced > Tools > Winetricks expand settings and look for the videomemorysize presets, choose one that suits your card or set it to auto.

Should this really be tagged as fully playable..?

10.6.4 with a 9series GPU and a 2.4duel core

90% of doors = Crash
Entering combat or vats = Soon Crash
Looking to far across the wasteland = Crash

In TAB key Pitboy mode often the screen texture will be replaced by a random image or texture file from the game..

Textures some times dont load in properly and just show as black (this is rare and could just be slow loading?)

Radio has Voice but no Music on New Vagas radio (there was a very simlar issue with Fallout3 i would worrie about this one last.. as you get sick of the radio very quickly any way.. and its good the voice acting on it at least works clearly.

Keep it up looking forward to it being playable (its not atm for me)  Crash every 4-5 mins easily while trying to go about normal game play.. and crash 90% of the time when using doors.
What kind of system are you running this on? It's minimum required specs is 2.5 GHZ C2D with the ATI HD3850...if you have anything less than this then yes it'll be unplayable. No way I'm testing this on my X1600..If you do meet the required specs than I would suggest learning the ropes of porting because these are not professional ports. They will not run on every system that meets the specs without a few tweaks here and there.
Ok, new wrapper is up, please re-download and test.
tested using ATI Radeon HD 4670, crashes with a "has encountered a serious error" message on startup (i.e. not even on the menu). On vmware fusion crashes on gameplay, so the menus and intro animation work. I'm a bit of a noob at this, but could someone tell me if it might have something to do with my version of wine
EDIT: sorry this was for the old wrapper, trying the new one now
Shouldn't this game have roughly the same requirements as Fallout 3?  It uses the same engine and has basically the same graphics.
tryed new wrapper 2.0 didn't work.. sorry going to try again could have set it up wrong.
Although the engine is the same as in F3, and I'm only speculating, but I'd assume the textures and graphics would have big improvements.

But now that you've planted the seed in my head I think I'll give it a shot!
i think the new wrapper has some funky default screen options.. i had to fiddle with some of the wineskin settings to get it to get past the FalloutConfig? mabye my own fault for not running falloutconfig first

Performance wize new wrapper seems vastly improved.. just got thru a fight with a scorpion with out a Crash... frame rate seems slightly improved.. (my settings are higher this time so ill drop and compare) ..
going to go back in for more testing.. (with diferent doors etc)

in regard to the performance demands of Fallout 3 ... vs  Fallout NV.. i would say they are very close.. mabye reduce your view distances with fallout NV.. only real change would be more Dense level design doodads etc..

No it's set to run in current desktop fullscreen mode. Try erasing your old ~/Documents/My Games/FalloutNV (just keep you Saves if you have any) and then run falloutconfig.app again.

If it fails again, describe what happens, i mean does it crash or is it not starting at all?
Sorry for my mistakes messing up my settings) i think ive fixed things back.. however when i exit with the fallout.app  or the falloutsettings.app  screen goes black and im left with a X as a courser and i must end process manually.. possibly still a left over mistake from me fiddling with the whineskin window options (sorry!)

Texture errors seem to be gone..

Random crashes seem to be gone..

Improved FPS..

still have to test loading with doors that where giving errors.. (im longer along in the game now)..
just as a note.. in Wineskin 2.0 if your leaving the screen options on Automatic, make sure you have it set in winecfg to not allow the window manager to decorate or control windows, it can cause lotsa drawing and crashing problems.

if you exit and its ever stuck running you can use CMD+Q to kill it... but that may not be enough.  If it actually has a stuck process, its going to remain stuck and CMD+Q only kills the X server.  You'll probably want to open up Terminal and type "killall wine" to kill any stuck process and everything should shut down right.  If it shuts down right just by using CMD+Q (no stuck wine and wineserver in Activity Monitor), then its not actually hanging, its just the game is still running something and the wineserver is acting properly.  Wineskin will not close anything down until the wineserver is actually done running things.

I'm really interested in all feedback regarding issues with Wineskin 2.0 beta though  :-)
I noticed the same thing too. The default display settings in the wrapper were Override, Fullscreen and current resolution.

Doh123, i noticed the same thing in a couple of cases, where the game would quit with a black screen and the X mouse cursor from XServer. Cmd+q quits, but there are wine processes stuck in activity monitor.
Sorry to make no sense..

Yes its back to  Override Fullscreen Current resolution.. however when ever i quit it gets stuck on black screen with X cursor and i have to manually quit.. end process etc..

going in to test.. sorry for messing up the thread abit.

-occasionally the screen will flash Gray .. once in maybe 30mins

-The Pitboy tab menu might distort and have random white icon textures put in the place of the background menu of the pitboy and or  the exit menu..  (this might actually be a error with FalloutNV PC and not this port.. (however it happened more often with older wrapper seems to happen less now.)

-Mouse input seems very jaggy and low response.. (this is the first Wine emulation ive used so maybe this is normal?)
I'm saying if its getting stuck.. its because the game is not shutting down properly, or Wine is not handling it properly, and Wine is not shutting down.  This is not within my realm of control in Wineskin as its an issue between the game and Wine.... as long as the wineserver is still running, Wineskin thinks everything is still running fine... theres no closer way to monitor anything.  You can killall wine or you can run Wineskin.app and in Advanced-Tools tab run taskmgr and see what it thinks is still running... maybe narrow it down.

I've noticed that in other games too on my mac pro, maybe its something with XServer or wined3d

I don't have this problem. You said you have an ATI card?

Mouse is slow - if that's what you mean, then yes, it's probably wine
