Dungeons & Dragons Online (DDO) is a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) developed my Turbine for Windows. It started out as a subscription based game but later converted over to the Free to Play business model.

Personal Notes:
This game is pretty fun and has quite a few players online at any given time. The wrapper is configured with a tweaked PyLORTO launcher and should be ready to roll once you install the game's assets.

My System Specs:
- OS:                    Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3
- CPU:                 i7 quad @ 4.6GHz
- RAM:               16GB
- Video:              ATI Radeon HD 6870 1GB
- Disk Space:     about 8.5GB with game assets installed

Known Issues:
Does not shut down from launcher cleanly. After exiting game normally you have to Apple-Q to quit the wrapper.
Graphics tweaking and resolution changing is wonky. Sometimes it'll crash on configuring the various settings.
I'm sure there are other quirks but I have yet to find them in the time it took to get a Paladin to level 6.

Installation:
In order to acquire the game assets you'll need to use a virtual machine or a real Windows installation to execute the DDO downloader form their website, http://www.ddo.com/u...rt/download-ddo. Once the game assets finish downloading you can move them to your Mac OS X desktop and install the game via normal means into the wrapper.

To install the game you'll right click on the wrapper and select 'Show Package Contents'. In the window that just opened up you'll find an icon for Wineskin, double click it. Once it opens you'll want to select 'Install Windows Software'. It'll next open up a Finder window where you'll want to point it to the DDO Install directory. Accept the default options for everything. Once you do this it'll be smooth sailing for the installation.

After the game is installed you should be ready to go. Double click on the 'Dungeons and Dragons Online' icon to start the game.

Aha!  I got it to work under the god-awful 10.8.2.  Just need to do two things:  first, get xquartz (currently 2.7.4) as a replacement to X11 and second, update Wineskin to 2.5.8.  For those who are noobs to Wine (such as myself) apparently the trick is to open the package contents for the Dungeons and Dragons Online, double-click Wineskin, choose the Advanced button, then choose the Tools tab.  From here you can click on the "Update Wrapper" button on the right side.  Just.  Couldn't.  Get.  That.  ::sigh::

Anyway, it works very well now.  And it's a hard game to beat at this price.  ;)  Thanks, slavezeo!
But you also have to update the Wine engine, because if you don't the DDO shop will not load.
So is the wrapper tested only for OS X 10.8?  Could the fact that I'm on 10.6 be part of the problem?  I assume it should work with 10.6, since the specs say wineskin should work.

When I do this and click "choose" on my DDO installation directory, it simply goes into the directory to select a file, not selects the directory. This is why I asked what file the wrapper is looking for, since I can't seem to select the directory itself.
Hi deesto,

I was originally on 10.6.8, which worked just fine.  I think the porter listed his specs as being Lion (10.7).

As I recall I just chose the D&D setup.exe file when I selected a file through the Wineskin wrapper.
Thanks Ecorche. I wonder what I'm doing wrong, then: I've created a link to my DDO installation within the wrapper directory, as Barbarossa suggested, but I still get the same results: intro movies run, splash screen loads (full screen), the icons at the bottom of the splash change to the dislaimer text, and then I get an hourglass pointer that I can move around the screen but that never changes, and the system is stuck at that point.  When I do a Command+Option+Esc for a force close, an X-window shows up in the bottom-right corner, but It has nothing in it and I can't close it.
Two things. Wineskin must be linked to PyLotro and you have to tell PyLotro where to find your DDO installation.

But since that last update DDO is not playable anymore.

Thanks Barbarossa. So since I've verified that both of the above are already true, and I'm still getting to the same point (system freeze at loading splash screen), maybe I should assume the problem is actually with whatever DDO update screwed things up for other people?  What other errors are people seeing?

BTW, when I try updating Wineskin with Ecorche's instructions (open Wineskin.app; Advanced -> Tools -> Update Wrapper), I get:
There is an error with the installation of your Master Wrapper.  Please update your Wrapper in Wineskin Winery

This is with a fresh copy of the wrapper, and with both Wineskin and the PyLOTRO wrapper inside of it pointing to the local DDO installation directory.
Interesting... Do you have Wineskin Winery installed?

BTW all Wine engines do not work with the recent update of DDO because of a bug in the engine.
I did have Wineskin Winery installed, in my ~/Applications directory.

But I noticed I had a Wine.app in ~/Applications that I had forgotten about (I had also installed and been using one from MacPorts).  I 2-clicked it, it prompted me to upgrade to Wine v1.4 (from v1.1.41 or so), then proceeded to delete my existing app and replace it with the new 1.4 version, which now tells me "You have Mac OS X 10.6.8. The application requires Max OS X 10.7 or later.".  Very nice of the app to upgrade itself without checking for OS compatibility first.
I need some one to walk me through this, downloaded DDOstandered.exe from DDO site, how do I get the installer onto the wrapper? Tried putting the .exe into Drive_c and setting it as the windows .exe, didn't, some one please help me.
