Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is a stand-alone expansion of Far Cry 3, developed by Ubisoft Montreal. The game takes place on a bizarre retro-futuristic open worldisland crawling with evil, with players assuming the action role of eye-patched cyborg protagonist Sargent Rex Power Colt, voiced by Michael Biehn (Terminatorand Aliens), whose mission is to defeat a rogue cyborg army.
Set in a dystopian 2007, Ubisoft describes the game as "an 80s VHS vision of the future" where you must "get the girl, kill the baddies, and save the world". Earth has been ravaged by a nuclear war and new paths for peace must be found. Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is a stand-alone shooter which won't require a copy of Far Cry 3 to play the game. The game will be launched officially on 1st May for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade. Melbourne electronic music duo Power Glove has posted a series of new tracks that claim to be the Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon official soundtrack.

The wrapper reportedly works fine with the original FarCry 3 game, too!

Personal Notes:
This game has been leaked today, so what's more fitting than a wrapper which lets you take a look at it on your mac? This game is sooo nostalgic, seriously if you like it, buy it once it's officially out. Well worth it.

My System Specs:
- OS: OS X 10.8.3
- CPU: Core i5 2.53GHz
- RAM: 8 GB
- Video: nVidia GT330M 256MB
- Disk Space: 3.5GB

Known Issues:
- There are some memory leaks with the game. If you encounter crashes, try opening wineskin, go to "Set screen options", disable the "Auto detect GPU info for Direct3D", then advanced > Tools > Winetricks > Settings and install "Videomemorysize=2048"
- If you want, you can use the winemac driver, but it makes the game cursor in the menus a little unstable

Installation:
1. Download the wrapper.
2. Extract the 7z file with 7zx (!IMPORTANT!)
3. Make a copy of the extracted wrapper, so you have two.
4. Run one of the wrappers, and install the game as you'd normally do
5. The installer will finish and then start installing DirectX, VCRuntime and .NET. You don't have to wait for it to finish, as it's irrelevant, so quit it.
6. Right click on the wrapper you installed the game in, and select "Show Package contents".
7. Do the same for the empty wrapper
8. On the finder window of the wrapper you installed the game in, go to drive_c > Program Files. Do the same for the empty one.
9. Move the Ubisoft folder to the empty wrapper.
10. Close both finder windows.
11. Delete the wrapper you originally installed the game in (now empty)
12. Move the remaining wrapper wherever you want.
13. Launch the game and have fun

Nice one! I tried porting this yesterday. It launched n everything but I had low performance even with the winedriver enabled. Also, there where draw distances and the game would crash in the main menu/loading screen when trying to change graphics!

I'll test this out and edit this post with the results! :)

EDIT:

Performance was ok with everything set to low for me, still good looking though. (my mac's not the best for playing games, with its puny GT330M)
You'll still get the occasional crash here and there, but I've tracked that down to memory exhaustion. If you disable wineskin's auto detect and set the memory limit to something like 2GB you can minimize it to a point where it'll rarely happen.

Followed the instructions provided in great detail, made sure that all solutions to memory exhaustion where implemented!

Get the same issues that I had in my own port (using mac driver)
  • Dialogue stuttering (going on and off at times)
  • Crash on main menu when changing resolution and changing to windowed (can be changed while in-game without crashing)
  • Crash on loading screen if textures are above 'LOW' setting (can be increased while in-game but might still crash)
  • Graphical glitches in the distance/stains from distant objects: http://cl.ly/image/3X1d1z3m3j0i http://cl.ly/image/3A0q1E1W1F0t
  • Lazers (on weapon attatchments) do not show. Only the dot in the centre of the screen.
On these settings the game itself is relatively smooth AFTER the first helicopter mission (which was a little low in FPS): http://cl.ly/image/2z0n0c1P411W

Basically, I get the same experience as i did in my own wrapper, except performance is a little better (which is good!). Hope this post helped some people out!

Its got a lot of bugs and glitches, but because it peforms a little better than my own, its 5 Stars from me!

Edit- nvm found it
2 questions, first will this port work for amd cards?
second, if it does, will it work with the original far cry 3? If it does I will be so excited, for as the only port out there for far cry 3 does not work for amd cards.

You could use the Wine Mac driver to improve performance, and if you have the newest version of Mountain Lion, with the updated ATI/AMD drivers, then it should work fine i think.
Cool Stand-Alone  Thanks for the wrapper thanoulas Posted Image
Thanoulas...you...are...AMAZING!

Seriously, you did an amazing job, it works pretty well for me, with the occasional, but rare crash and lag spike...
You deserve 10 stars....too bad I can only vote once.

Great Job Again!

btw, this game is awesome.

The wrapper should work fine with 10.8.3, as HyperTsunaz said, and I haven't tried, but since the two games use the same engine, I believe it should work for FarCry 3, too
The dialogue stutters a bit for me.  Anyone have a solution?
Tested it with Far Cry 3..doesn't work for me :(, I'll have to stick with the old port for it.

Place this file: http://cl.ly/3U0H1L030S3t into your /Far Cry 3/Bin/ folder. If it asks you to replace an existing file with it, click ok.
Works perfect on medium on the i7 HD3000 and 16gb RAM, thanks!
Thanoulas, Should you be even porting leaked games???
great port, except that for me the game has issues with the mouse, I can't look around properly sometimes, like it is blocked.

Intel HD 4000, 512 mb

(otherwise, working quite flawlessly! :D) - still 5 stars from me
Hot Dam! It works even better with far cry 3 :o Good job.
