After escaping the island of banoi in Dead Island, the survivors arrive at an aircraft carrier as a monsoon carries the zombie infection from the original island on board and the infection spreads once again. Sam B, Logan Carter, Xian Mei, and Purna, all playable protagonists from the first game, destroy the carrier. The team are forced to look for safety and reach the nearby island of Palanoi, finding that the island has also been infected, and the team begin a fight for survival; also joined by new protagonist John Morgan

Personal Notes:

Game seems to start fine, menu is fine, yet the performance in-game is low and i've been encountering a lot of wine crashes (but no graphical glitches).

My System Specs:

- OS: OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.2
- CPU: Intel Core i7 2600k @ 4.2GHz
- RAM: 16GB 1600MHz
- Video: 2GB MSI GTX 670 OC Edition
- Disk Space:   8GB

Known Issues:

  • Game instantly closes after changing certain graphic settings, when you launch it again your desired settings will be applied.
  • In-game performance is low/laggy (even on my GTX 670 which is a gaming GPU), same performance issues with the original dead island in wine. (Performance may increase with tweaked game config files)
  • I encounter wine crashes quite often when playing this game (on the first level), making it basically unplayable to a certain extent. Perhaps these crashes are caused by memory leaks.

Wine crash fix:

If you experience crash issues, go to "Option" "Internet", and turn from "cooperative" to "Single Player", no more crashes then.

Set Game Language:

If you need to change the Language you will need to edit the file located in:

open DI\Data\game.ini 8 lines from the end find this string Locale(“En”) change value “En” to “De” for german, or what ever you want.

Thanks Lisapower for these solutions!

Installation:

  • -Right click the wrapper, show package contents and open wineskin.app.
  • Click on advanced, tools, winetricks, click the 'apps' tab and select 'Steam'. THEN click run!
  • Let steam install.
  • Once its installed, go into wineskin.app within the wrapper, next to the steam launcher, and click on advanced.
  • Change the 'Windows EXE' line to: /Program Files/Steam/steam.exe and then exit wineskin.app.
  • Finally, run the wrapper, steam will launch, sign in to your steam account and download dead island riptide. Once its downloaded, click play!
Now, whenever you launch the wrapper, it will sign into steam and allow you to launch your game via your 'Steam Game Library'.

For 'non steam users':
Please note that I do not (in any way) promote piracy and that I highly recommend you PURCHASE the games that you want to play!

  • Right click the wrapper, show package contents and launch wineskin.app, then select install new software.
  • Locate the setup.exe file (that is within the .iso you probably downloaded, if you download an ISO, double click it to mount it!) and install the PC files by going through the setup.
  • -- Don't bother installing directx and vcrun if it asks you too. --
  • Then, go back into the contents of the wrapper, go to: drive_c ----> Program Files ----> Dead Island riptide and paste a NoCD crack into the dead island riptide folder. It should ask you to replace some files. When it does, click 'ok'.
The last step is to launch the wrapper!

where can you find the download for Z7X?

make sure you drag the wrapper to your desktop when you open the .dmg file
Nevermind my last last comment, why does the wrapper close whenever I open it and dead island never pops up?

You need install full game data from Steam or pirated ISO.

(If you want pirated ISO. Google is your friend. We can't post torrent link or full game link.)
Thanks for your help. There were missing dll files so I downloaded them, but now it says fixme:heap:HeapSetInformation 0x68a000 0 0x32fd98 4 when I test run it. It won't work when I start it either.

Whenever I open the game it doesn't say anything is wrong with it but it never opens. It just stays in the dock(same when I test run it, it doesn't open the test results and it has been going for 2 days). Any suggestions please?

Thanks

did you add a no-cd crack to your dead island riptide files?

What settings are you using in the game graphics menu? Try lowering resolution. Also, make sure you have mac driver enabled in Wineskin > Set Screen Options
I just placed a nocd crack and changed the screen settings, thank you for the tip but now it's been 10-20 minutes and it hasn't copied a single kilobyte.
I just placed a nocd crack and changed the screen settings, thank you for the tip but now it's been 10-20 minutes and it hasn't copied a single kilobyte. Is this what the screen settings should look like?webkit-fake-url://4F9828C5-5C74-4C16-B306-83EFD9033D7C/image.tiff
the image you tried to post doesn't seem to link properly. try imgur.com. Also, it sounds like OSX just had an issue copying the NoCD Fix into your riptide folder, try again or try manually dragging the files into the folder
It worked for the crack, this time. But it still won't open. My screen settings are:
Automatic
no extra gamma correction
decorate windows
and auto detect GPU Info for Direct 3D

I've tried almost any combination...the result from best graphics to the lowest possible settings is the same. By the way I am playing now in parallels windows 7 with the highest graphics and I dont even have to wait the loadings almost: is perfect.
pd: all this trouble because my mac pro has an EFI too old and I can't do dual boot and partition with bootcamp. If I knew with parallels games work so great I wouldn't even try all this mess. Thanks anyway for the port and your answer.

Cheers,
-Nico
