After escaping the island of banoi in Dead Island, the survivors arrive at an aircraft carrier as a monsoon carries the zombie infection from the original island on board and the infection spreads once again. Sam B, Logan Carter, Xian Mei, and Purna, all playable protagonists from the first game, destroy the carrier. The team are forced to look for safety and reach the nearby island of Palanoi, finding that the island has also been infected, and the team begin a fight for survival; also joined by new protagonist John Morgan

Personal Notes:

Game seems to start fine, menu is fine, yet the performance in-game is low and i've been encountering a lot of wine crashes (but no graphical glitches).

My System Specs:

- OS: OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.2
- CPU: Intel Core i7 2600k @ 4.2GHz
- RAM: 16GB 1600MHz
- Video: 2GB MSI GTX 670 OC Edition
- Disk Space:   8GB

Known Issues:

  • Game instantly closes after changing certain graphic settings, when you launch it again your desired settings will be applied.
  • In-game performance is low/laggy (even on my GTX 670 which is a gaming GPU), same performance issues with the original dead island in wine. (Performance may increase with tweaked game config files)
  • I encounter wine crashes quite often when playing this game (on the first level), making it basically unplayable to a certain extent. Perhaps these crashes are caused by memory leaks.

Wine crash fix:

If you experience crash issues, go to "Option" "Internet", and turn from "cooperative" to "Single Player", no more crashes then.

Set Game Language:

If you need to change the Language you will need to edit the file located in:

open DI\Data\game.ini 8 lines from the end find this string Locale(“En”) change value “En” to “De” for german, or what ever you want.

Thanks Lisapower for these solutions!

Installation:

  • -Right click the wrapper, show package contents and open wineskin.app.
  • Click on advanced, tools, winetricks, click the 'apps' tab and select 'Steam'. THEN click run!
  • Let steam install.
  • Once its installed, go into wineskin.app within the wrapper, next to the steam launcher, and click on advanced.
  • Change the 'Windows EXE' line to: /Program Files/Steam/steam.exe and then exit wineskin.app.
  • Finally, run the wrapper, steam will launch, sign in to your steam account and download dead island riptide. Once its downloaded, click play!
Now, whenever you launch the wrapper, it will sign into steam and allow you to launch your game via your 'Steam Game Library'.

For 'non steam users':
Please note that I do not (in any way) promote piracy and that I highly recommend you PURCHASE the games that you want to play!

  • Right click the wrapper, show package contents and launch wineskin.app, then select install new software.
  • Locate the setup.exe file (that is within the .iso you probably downloaded, if you download an ISO, double click it to mount it!) and install the PC files by going through the setup.
  • -- Don't bother installing directx and vcrun if it asks you too. --
  • Then, go back into the contents of the wrapper, go to: drive_c ----> Program Files ----> Dead Island riptide and paste a NoCD crack into the dead island riptide folder. It should ask you to replace some files. When it does, click 'ok'.
The last step is to launch the wrapper!

I've tried almost any combination...the result from best graphics to the lowest possible settings is the same. By the way I am playing now in parallels windows 7 with the highest graphics and I dont even have to wait the loadings almost: is perfect.
pd: all this trouble because my mac pro has an EFI too old and I can't do dual boot and partition with bootcamp. If I knew with parallels games work so great I wouldn't even try all this mess. Thanks anyway for the port and your answer.

Cheers,
-Nico
Alright, if you want to give this a shot then try changing the wine engine to 1.5.29. But if it works well in parallels then I suggest you just play it through that method :) Cheers
I start the game but the black dead island riptide box shows up but it says Exit: Cannot find script dll
'C\users\Wineskin\Temp\IXP000.TMP\_x86_rwdi.exe.

Any suggestions making it work either way?

Thanks.

download wineskin winery, update it and download the lastest 1.5.29 engine through that. go into my wrappers contents, open wineskin, click advanced, tools and 'change engine used' and select 1.5.29 engine. Let wineskin do its thing and eventually the engine will be changed.
How do you extract the file after you've downloaded it?
Looking forewards to an answer ;)

it says at the very top of the page: Use Z7X to extract the .dmg file. Open the DMG and drag the wrapper to your desktop.

7zx is an app that I used to compress this wrapper:
can someone please reply to this
where do you get the exe setup files and all the other things
where can i get a NoCD crack?
I got a non-steam copy of the game and tried running it on intel hd macbook pro. It ran perfectly until it froze at some point in the prologue. i quit the application then retried and it loaded me where i left. only bad thing is, its just happened like 10times in a row. any ideas how to fix this?

And yep, i changed the option from co-op to single player :)

Either purchase the game legally and support the creators, or use google to find a cracked/free version. Obviously i recommend the legal way but you can download a torrent of the game (install the pc version by using the wrapper provided by DanIsTheMan)
I'm getting some freezes in less han five minutes of playing. changed co-op to single. Changed to "Best Performance" video quality. MBP i7 8gb 1600RAM.

What is the password?
I'm trying to use my 360 controller with it, and it works...for the most part. Some of the buttons are incorrect, like R3 is start instead of crouch, and select is crouch. Just a general mismatch of buttons. I was wondering if this has something to do with the fact that my controller is not an original 360 controller (the white one) or maybe wine is doing something?
