Steam is a digital distribution, digital rights management, multiplayer, and communications platform developed by Valve Corporation. It is used to distribute games and related media online, from small independent developers to larger software houses. In October 2012, Valve expanded the service to include non-gaming software. Steam provides the user with installation and automatic management of software across multiple computers, as well as community features such as friends lists and groups, cloud saving, and in-game voice and chat functionality. The software provides a freely available application programming interface (API), Steamworks, that developers can take advantage of to integrate many of Steam's functions within their software products, including copy protection, networking and matchmaking, in-game achievements and micro-transactions, and support for user-created content through Steam Workshop.

Personal Notes:
As the other Windows steam ports are outdated now because of the new update on Dec 3, which causes all wine engines below 1.7.8 to crash whenever steam logged in, I decided to make this port.

The purpose of this port is to give a wrapper to download your games in, apply a no-cd patch to the game, and then put the game into its specific wrapper (For example, I download Dishonored through steam, take the game files out of the Windows Steam wrapper, apply a no-cd patch, and then put it into a wrapper that was made specifically for Dishonored).

DO NOT INSTALL GAMES INTO THIS WRAPPER AND THEN PLAY THEM. THEY MOST LIKELY WILL NOT WORK.

Game files can be found at C:/Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/common

My System Specs:
- OS: Mac OSX 10.9 "Mavericks"
- CPU: 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
- RAM: 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
- Video:    NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT 512 MB
- Disk Space:   500 MB

Known Issues:
None!

Installation:
Download the wrapper, double click it and login to steam :)

Just changed it to media fire so the download will be much less of a hassle now :)
Hey guys,
First of all, thanks for this port! It seemed to work really well, I could run it and download Oblivion GOTY edition via my account. However,  I've run into a problem when trying to run the game through this specific cider wrapper on my Macbook Air: http://portingteam.c...0#commentsStart
I exchanged the Oblivion.exe file in the Steam game folder with the exe-crack that came with the wrapper. Then I dragged the whole Oblivion game folder into the Program Files folder in the wrapper. I also checked on the XWrapper file that the directory / path was consistent with where the crack exe file was.
But everytime I try to start the game through the wrapper, it lets me chose "Steam Version" but then just crashes.
Argh - so close and yet so far!
Do you have any idea what I'm doing wrong?
I've checked, and my OSX version (10.7.5) should be compatible with the wrapper according to the description on the link above.
I hope you can help, I'd so appreciate it!!
Thanks!
Hitman Absolution won't play on this steam skin, it keeps coming up with.
"your operating system version is unsupported. This product requires Windows Vista SP2 or newer"
is there any way i can get around this.
thanks
hi. first of all, thank you for the wrapper! i get so close, but then i have a problem. i downloaded the wrapper and it worked fine - i logged in and then got the verification email from steam. now, however, i get the steam app in the dock but nothing coming up on my screen. please help :)
Where can i find my downloaded winodows games on my wrapper folder?
Whenever I try to download this on google chrome, it says that its a malicious file, and won't let me download it. Anyone else had this happen? Should i dismiss and download anyway? I don't know what to do.
when I try to open this, my mac gives me a error message and gives me the option to either cancel or move it to trash, any help with this problem?

I had the same issue when i tried to open wineskin
I know it is very unlikely, but will Steam recognize achievements from the games?
When I double click the app, it shows up in the dock for a good while but does nothing, then it disappears. Please help!
when i get to the part where it asks for a steam guard code the window opens but there is no field for me to enter the information thus not allowing me to get into my steam for wine not sure whats causing the issue :/

Do you see a steam icon in your menu bar? (top right of the screen?)

You need to set your security settings to, allow apps from anywhere. Go into system preferences, and the click security, should be pretty easy to find.
So I downloaded this a while back in order to download Mass Effect to use with a wrapper. However, I was having a lot of trouble getting the Mass Effect-specific wrapper to work, so in my frustration, I decided I wanted to see what would happen if I launched Mass Effect through this Steam wrapper (yes, I know it says not to). And... it worked! I just finished the whole game with no bugs. (Sadly, I can't get Mass Effect 2 to start at all, but you can't have everything...).

TL;DR: You can at least play Mass Effect with this wrapper.
