ATTENTION: Link is not broken. Consider the "broken report" a false one since either someone was misinformed about the functionality of this website or that said someone is playing around.

pSX emulator by Gazaxian.
This emulator fully emulates the Sony Playstation. Compatibility is fairly high, most games tried by the author work well.
Doesn't need any tweaking other than button configuration.

Personal Notes:
pSX files included. It's a really simple to use PlayStation emulator, and I recommend using this until OpenEmu officially supports the PS core.

System Requirements:
  • OS: --------------- Mac OS X 10.6+
  • CPU: ------------- Intel Core Duo
  • RAM: ------------ 1 GB
  • Video: ----------- 64 MB
  • Disk Space: --- 35 MB
Known Issues:
  • The only debugger that doesn't crash the app is the r3000
Firstly, launch the app for the first time. It'll create folders under ~/Documents/pSX/.
Put your bios in: ~/Documents/pSX/bios/. and locate it with the app.

If you have Snow Leopard installed, the app might issue a warning mentioning that CoreGraphics.framework is not available. If this is your case, run the following line in Terminal and put your password on demand:

sudo ln -s /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/CoreGraphics.framework /System/Library/Frameworks/
You're all set.

What's New in Version 2.3 (See full changelog)

  • --- v2.3 ---
  • Now issues a warning in case CoreGraphics.framework is not present/symlinked (for Snow Leopard cases)
  • Fixed (primitively) App's Dock animation on launch
  • Removed Dock & Finder relaunch
  • --- v2.2 ---
  • Fixed dock icon name
  • Fixed a small memory leak
  • --- v2.1 ---
  • Changed Wine version to CX13.2.0 for better Mac driver support
  • --- v2.0 ---
  • Now uses Mac driver for better Full screen support, gamma correction and to fix speed up issue
  • Changed Wine version to 1.6.2
  • Reduced app size by ~20MB

Cannot  download it, every link arrow or whatever I choose I cannot download the wrapper.

I have tried and tried and tried, I give up, I get downloads for all sorts of rubbish but no PSX1 Emulater wrapper :(

I wish somebody who has downloaded this would take the time to tell me how ?

I click on the Download Wrapper button as you do and get to the Linksave.in page where I choose the top download
option, the down Arrow/chevron on the first version, I then get taken to a blank page, nothing, no download.

I have never had this trouble with a download ever from this site, other wrappers download as soon as you click the button
and the Mediafire fire ones are always good. Have had trouble with linksave.in ones before but not like this.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience. I don't know what caused this, but Linksave showed no actual files attached. I don't know if it's incompatibility with mega.co.nz, even though I tested once and worked, so I assumed it'd work every time.

No matter, I'm uploading a new version and I'll take the risk of not using Linksave again for a while.
Thank you very much for sorting that out :)
Don't get this wrapper, better get the OpenEmu.

Certainly the best solution once OpenEmu officially brings Playstation emulation to their main build.
I'm only maintaining this port as an experiment with Wineskin wrapping (trimming down size, playing around with X, assigning icons to certain file extensions, among others). I preferably use pSX since it's quick and effective, but I'll move over to OpenEmu when they think the core is ready.

One thing OpenEmu doesn't cover is Snow Leopard (10.6.x) compatibility. This isn't a big issue, it'll just leave out Macs that don't fully support 64-bit (Mac up until 2007), users with 2GB of RAM or who simply don't wish to update, and this is the case with one of my Macs with the Intel GMA.

OpenEmu does not support the Playstation, well not yet anyway.
Nice job trimming down the Wine size. Works great!
