UPDATE! 04/27/2016  NEWS!!! after one year, the Definitive Editiion of the game it's out!. It's a more complete game with new additions and it's better optimized, so I relized The new wrapper for it here: http://portingteam.c...nitive-edition/

“Ori and the Blind Forest” tells the tale of a young orphan destined for heroics, through a visually stunning action-platformer crafted by Moon Studios for PC. (released on March 11, 2015 for Microsoft Windows and Xbox One)

The forest of Nibel is dying. After a powerful storm sets a series of devastating events in motion, an unlikely hero must journey to find his courage and confront a dark nemesis to save his home.

Featuring hand-painted artwork, meticulously animated character performance, and a fully orchestrated score, “Ori and the Blind Forest” explores a deeply emotional story about love and sacrifice, and the hope that exists in us all.

Personal Notes:

The game is fantastic!

The game start in very low resolution in a little windows;

Simply click on the green zoom button

Posted Image

and the game will automatically fullscreen with the maximum resolution permitted for your monitor

Gamepad 360 controller works (be sure you installed [this driver] before); also force feedback works! [edit:] after official patch 1.20 force feed back stopped to work on my system)

If back button doesn't works you can see the game map by clicking the tab key on your keyboard...

The game was born buggy or fully functional  since version 1.0 windows native , it depends on the hardware owned; on Windows some bugs depending on hardware owned so may therefore persist or occur also on MAC depending on the configuration ... For these things it is necessary that developers will release a Ultimately corrective patch... If you're lucky and  the game will be fine, it's  better to have a good hardware to avoid slowdowns or random crashes ...

If you are among those who have some problem, you can look here:

http://steamcommunit...70/discussions/

and see if any windows user have the same problem and see if there is a solution

Important:

If you get black screen at start,  open wineskin inside the wrapper go to advanced, select tools / winetricks then click on Settings and choose:

glsl=enabled

if black screen persists try to remove my  "settings.bin" file within the wrapper in:

drive_c/users/Wineskin/Local Settings/Application Data/Ori and the Blind Forest/

maybe  it's not good for you ...

If you have crashes during cutscenes, open wineskin Within the wrapper and open the wine config control panel and uncheck in STAGING tab the CSMT flag:

Posted Image

if you have slowmotion during gameplay, try to disable also CSMT...
CSMT flag can worsen or improve the performance and fluidity of the game depending on the hardware you use...
disabling CSMT flag should also avoid the crashes for users that have them ...

If you have doubts about how fast the game should have optimal, look at the video I linked at the beginning of this post.

However, you must remember that this is a very beautiful game that  has problems also natively to some Windows users,  therefore not expect miracles if you have integrated video cards or hardware with little performance for gaming ...

My System Specs :
- OS: OS X 10.10.3 Yosemite
- CPU: Core 2 Duo 2,53 GHz
- RAM: 6 GB
- Video: nVidia 9800m GTS 1024Mb
- Video Driver: nvidia web driver...
- Disk Space:   9 GB

Known Issues:

- some glitches or artifacts during cutscenes (not for all)
- Some random crashes during cutscenes or after them (in CSMT mode and not for all)
- if you don't update the game at least to 1.1 patch,  you won't read the text in game
- to quit the game press cmd+alt+q because if you quit by the menù it crash...

Spoiler

steam patches:
Spoiler

Installation:

For Not steam users

Open Wineskin inside the wrapper and choose:

Install software --> Choose Setup Executable or move a folder inside if you have the folder taken by steam installation

to install the game only in this path:

/Program Files/Ori/

Install update 1 at least (without at least the update patch 1, you won't read text in game)
You need now a nodvd file of the ori.exe if you want play without connection and without steam...

Now you can also unistall Steam from the wrapper...

Put the wrapper with game just installed, as an normal app, in the applications folder and play

For Steam users:

Open the steam.app inside the wrapper and connect to steam with your account.
Download/install the game in the classic steam path.
Once installed, start wineskin icon inside the wrapper, choose "advanced" then "configuration" tab and change the path with this:

/Program Files/Steam/Steam.exe

(If when you launch the app you get a steam window without any text, you must to use as steam.exe's argument the "-no-dwrite",without quotes, as "EXE flags")

Now whenever you will start the Ori.app, steam will open automatically and you can play as usual choosing the game Ori and the blind forest

Put the wrapper with game just installed, as an normal app, in the applications folder and play

try to remove my  "settings.bin" file within the wrapper in:

drive_c/users/Wineskin/Local Settings/Application Data/Ori and the Blind Forest

I Forgot my setting in the wrapper, maybe  it's not good for you ...
ATI Radeon HD 5770 No go...
More info please...

Did you tried deleting my settings.bin?

What does happens exactly?

What version of the game (patch) did you used?  (1.0 ; 1.1 ;1.2)
My experience with my  core 2 duo 2,53ghz and Nvidia 9800m GTS 1024Mb vram:

the game works in 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2 for now...

Some problems are due as in some configurations windows, with different versions of the official patches, for example
with 1.1 update, my 360controller for windows works with force feedback, but after I patched with 1.2 udpate force feedback It stopped working...
Fortunately I had made a copy of the game folder 1.1; on the other hand 1.20 patch made more fluid (always on my configuration) the gameplay in some areas where before It slowed down a little bit ... However it seems to play on windows for most of the time...

For ati user that has black screen on startup also after deleting my settings.bin, try with:

winetricks/settings "glsl=enabled"

In my system, I would not use it because it will slow down the initial loading of the game (2 to 3 minutes, compared to even one minute that I have using the other shaders), but maybe in the ati's cards it could give a different response. ..
I see no text in steam, and get a black screen even though I tired everything posted. Could I submit a log of sorts somehow?

i ported this game by myself ahahah i used a different engine and the game work very very very well! the only thing is that the "Moon Studios" intro lag too much.. (so i have to wait 5-6 minutes before playing.. any solution?)

I solved that problems with changing the shaders in winetricks:

settings
glsl=disabled

However in mine the max time of loading was 2 minute... now max 1 minute... It's a problem that's present also in some windows users...

For Steam, you must to use as steam.exe's argument the "-no-dwrite",without quotes, as "EXE flags"

for a log file you can see it launching wineskin within the wrapper, then go to advanced/tools, click on "View last Run log files" then copy and paste it here... (with spoiler please  )
