Star Wars: The Old Republic, abbreviated as SWTOR, is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) based in the Star Wars universe that takes place thousands of years before Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. The game was developed by BioWare, published by EA, and released on December 20, 2011. SWTOR has had several expansions and the most recent expansion is Star Wars: The Old Republic: Knights of the Eternal Throne (aka KOTET).

Personal Notes:
  • this wrapper is a modified version of crashoverridese’s wrapper.
  • I have played with this wrapper for several months now it works way better than any of my previous wrappers.
  • I created the game icon myself.
My System Specs:
  • Mac: MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2012)
  • OS: Mac OS X 10.12.1
  • Processor: 1.8 GHz Intel Core i5
  • Memory:  4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
  • Graphics Card: Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB
  • Disk Space Needed: 40 GB of HDD Space for the Game (for the current patch: 5.0)
Fixed Issues:
  • swtor_fix is used to launch and run SWTOR without problems it will minimized after the launcher opens. Without this open, the game will be stuck on the loading screen and never take you to the character selection screen. Not needed anymore.
  • The game no longer takes 3 to 6 Minutes to load when switching from different locations (normally takes 20 sec to 1 min).

Map Crash Bug Fixed:

  • For a long time, there has been bug on computers with Intel graphics cards (including Windows computers) where whenever you hover your mouse over a map objective on the map or mini-map, or over the mission tracker, then the game would crash.
  • This effects a lot of Mac computers because most MacBooks use Intel graphics cards.
  • Well on WineHQ, the bug has been fixed. https://bugs.winehq....ug.cgi?id=32092
  • The bug was fixed by editing two .c files in the wine source code. After editing the two .c files in the wine source code, I then had to build a custom wine-engine. I did this by using the built-in custom wine-engine maker in Wineskin Winery, which created a wine bundle that could be read by Wineskin.
  • You no longer need my custom wine engine. You can download the latest wine engine using Wineskin Winery and then changing to the latest wine engine by right clicking (clicking with two finger on trackpad on a mac) the game and then selecting "Show Package Contents". After that open the Wineskin app and click Advanced. Afterwards, then select Tools tab and select "Change Engine Used". Then pick the latest wine engine that you just downloaded.
Known Issues:
  • Graphic Settings can only be changed in the Main Menu / Character Selection Screen not in Game. The game will crash if you attempt to change graphic settings in-game. You can change any of the other settings in-game. No longer an issue.
  • Sometimes the game does not start after you click the app. If this happens, just open the built-in app called Activity Monitor and then search for the keyword "wine".  After that, then force quit all the apps that have "wine" in the name. Make sure it has "wine" in the name and not "window". After you do that, just restart the game. The reason you have to do this is because if you keep on clicking the game app it will not do anything because all the wine background apps are still open.
  • Some people encounter the problem where they are stuck on the loading screen directly after patching finished. I still don't know how to fix this problem. Some ideas of how to fix this problem are in the comments below. Tell me if any fix the problem or none do.
Installation:
  • Unpack the wrapper with The Unarchiver or with any 7-zip unpacker.
  • Drop the App into your Applications folder on your Mac.
  • Start the wrapper and log-in with your user-account and patch the game. For me it took a whole day to patch the entire game.
  • You can set the game language in the launcher in the options (gear symbol).
  • After the patching is done and you click the play button, the client will close and then 30 seconds later the game will start and you will see a loading screen. It should not take more than one minute to load.
  • I recommend setting the screen resolution in-game to "Fullscreen (windowed)" because you can switch from window to fullscreen and back at anytime by clicking the green plus button. (When the game first opens, the game will open in fullscreen just click command+enter to make it go into windowed.)
  • Have Fun!
Version 2.0:
  • Initial Release
  • Added a known issue I forgot to mention
  • Updated the wrapper by disabling BitRaider
Version 2.1:
  • Updated engine to latest and changed icon

What's New in Version 2.2 (See full changelog)

  • Updated engine to latest
  • Removed swtor_fix.exe since not needed anymore

It won't let me start it
Says that it is broken or incomplete
What do you mean its broken? Do you mean you can't open 7z file? Tell me your OS X version.
that is all it says
this is after 7zx extracts it, when I try to run it
OS X 10.11.4
Oh I found the error. Its a problem with 7zx. Use this 7-zip unpacker instead: https://itunes.apple...425424353?mt=12. I did not realize 7zx does not work anymore. I use a payed software to unpack 7-zip files called Archiver and all I did was search for a free unpacker. Sorry about that.
It just opens a console that says

C:/Star Wars The Old Republic/swotor_fix.exe
Waiting for swotor...

If that happens, quit wine by opening Activity Monitor and searching "wine". Then just force quit all the apps with "wine" in the name and then restart the game. The client does not pop up instantly after swtor_fix but it should not take more than 1 minute.
Hi, Can anybody help with my problem? Everything was great, I logged in, game patch up and then game started. Logos, and intro worked, but loading screen after them freezes. I've tried repair client, run game in windowed mode, restart, but nothing worked.
I am running on 4K iMac late 2015.

That only occurs if your swtor_fix is not open. The swtor_fix fixes that issue. Also wait at least 5 minutes after logging in for the first time. And if nothing works try restarting your computer.

According to Activity Monitor swtor_fix is running and I waited multiple times for more than 10 minutes then restart and try it again. Game just freezes every time even the little cog, or whatever is the spinning thing in the corner is stuck.  Any other ideas?

When you restart the game did you quit all the wine background apps? I explain how to do that in the issues section.
