Screenshots
AM2R stands for (Another Metroid 2 Remake) which is the true nature of this project. In essense it's a remake of Metroid II: Return of Samus, relased for Game Boy in 1991, and whose main appeal was its radical graphics that were (at the time) ahead of their time and preceded what was to become Super Metroid on Super Nintendo and Metroid: Zero Mission which was also remade for Game Boy Advance from the first title designed for NES.

In the game you'll embody Samus Aran once more who'll have to face off against new evolutions of the Metroids in the depths of planet SR388. Or what's the same, you'll live a fuerther development of the Metroidvania where you'll run through winding scenarios with only your map to guide you as it is generated on the spot. You'll find improvements for your equipment and suit that'll allow you to beat obstacles that appear suddenly along the way.

AM2R is an awesome game that works seamlessly with today's PCs and Windows. Although its aesthetics will take you back to times long gone on 16 bit consoles; its mechanics and development are still current. Definitely a fan game worth keeping an eye on, and that has nothing to envy when compared with today's officially commercialized video games.

Hello there,

thanks for the port, NRG, this is an absolutely awesome game. It could easily be an official game^^

If anybody is experiencing the invisible Gravity Suit bug (which I had and is pretty common), just install dxsdk_jun2010 MS DirectX SDK, June 2010 (developers only) with winetricks, and it will work!

Hope this helps :)
@lamthatdude

today (15 aug 2016) it was released the version 1.1 of the game:

Quote

Changes:
1.1
- Fixed gravity suit not being rendered in certain systems
- Fixed room transition in area 3 entrance
- Fixed language file detection, the game can be fully translated now
- Added transport pipe to final area
- Other minor fixes

to update this port with latest version of the game you must unzip the files contained into the latest update  and copy them inside the wrapper into

drive_c/program files/am2r
folder

If you wish to remain updated with future change of this game you can see the official blog and forum:

I'm having trouble connecting a PS3 Controller to play AM2R. How do I connect it to play it properly?

I haven't any ps3 controller to test sorry... you can try to see if it work as Xinput (as 360 controller) using  x360ce  configurated for Playstation's buttons:

unzip the two files inside the AM2R installation folder within the wrapper and tell me if they work...

for connecting it through the bluetooth of your mac, I found these info:

It's works like a charm, I have problems aiming so I change the controller sensitivity in the game.

Are you telling me that my configuration file (x360ce.ini)  works?

Yes.
Where can I find the save files for 1.0? 1.1 versions that I have downloaded can't find the save files and neither can I.

drive_c/users/Wineskin/Local Settings/Application Data/AM2R/

the file is named as SAV1

I'm not sure that previous version of Save file can be used without problems with new versions

I written that message more than 7  months ago... sorry but if you read in the forum of the developer site, links were deleted... Nintendo intimated to the developer of the game doesn't proceed anymore in his work
NRG,

First of all, I know I'm very LTTP, but thanks for making this Mac port.
Ver 1.0 seems to run fine (I've only gone up to the title screen so far ^^ ,
but I see that the game has been since updated officially to 1.3.1, and "unofficially" to 1.3.2.

https://www.reddit.c...fficial_update/

I followed your instructions above for copying the new files into drive_c/program files/am2r, but the title screen still says v.1.0.
In the new version's folder, there's a text file saying to use Floating IPS

http://www.romhackin...utilities/1040/

to patch the exe and data.win files or something, but Floating IPS seems to be Windows only. Have I applied the updates correctly, and it's just not changing the version number on the title screen, or is using Floating IPS really necessary? If so, how do I get it to work? Perhaps there's a manual way of doing whatever Floating IPS does?
@Slipped Disco

My wrapper was released with the official version of the game v.1.0...
Latest official version of the game was  v.1.1

regarding the unofficial mod v.1.3.2, download directly the already patched folder here:

magnet link for the torrent:

magnet:?xt=urn:btih:F800F7F3AD3811BA372F2ADCFE9A2EF5326D0B0B&dn=AM2R_132.zip&tr=udp%3a%2f%2ftracker.openbittorrent.com%3a80%2fannounce&tr=udp%3a%2f%2ftracker.opentrackr.org%3a1337%2fannounce

rename the folder as AM2R and move it inside the wrapper as I explained in my old previous posts
Thanks so much for your help, NRG!
