Posted by theShadow on 12 October 2010 - 01:43 AM in Gaming

I went with a ps3 for the greater reliability, and also because had a ps2 and loved it.

here is a video review that sum's them up nicely. it's also freaking hilarious.

EDIT: also, keep in mind that this was made quote awhile ago, and his comment about the ps3 not having any games is no longer true.

#36392 Does God Exist?

I imagine the corruption started during the middle ages with the catholic church as the ruling power.

#36358 Does God Exist?

Posted by theShadow on 12 October 2010 - 05:32 PM in General

every person has their own religion, because every person's interpretation of religion is different. "organized religion" is composed of groups of people who's interpretations of religion are fairly similar.

you're own personal interpretation can be changed, and you should fight that as hard as you can. just do what you think is best.

whether or not god exists doesn't matter. The message that god sends is what really matters. I believe that the religious message is to try and be happy, productive, and help others do the same. So that's what I am going to try and do.

#32196 Starcraft II Thoughts

Posted by theShadow on 04 September 2010 - 02:15 PM in Gaming

when I first got starcraft II, I was kind of mentally preparing myself to be disappointed. (since games very rarely live up to all the hype). the installation process didn't help with that (it was 3 days before I could actually play it, due to problems with internet connection. )

however, once I finally got to a point where I could actually play, I must say I was blown away. it's a great, great game.

although I am little disappointed about the performance on the mac version, but I suppose that can't be helped. (and supposedly they are going to release a patch that improves it)

#36413 How come....

Posted by theShadow on 13 October 2010 - 12:48 AM in General

only if you are willing to take a cutting torch to it. ;)

that wouldn't actually work either, but it would be funny.

but seriously, don't do that.

#36494 warmonger: operation downtowm destruction

Posted by theShadow on 13 October 2010 - 08:39 PM in Ask for Help (Game Ports)

huh. I went back to try this again, and now it launches into a blank white screen with sound. (it doesn't crash though)

how do I get CXZ ebony to launch in debug mode?

#36498 warmonger: operation downtowm destruction

Posted by theShadow on 13 October 2010 - 09:04 PM in Ask for Help (Game Ports)

MAJOR UPDATE

I got it to work! I switched the windows version to vista, and now all of the major bugs are gone. everything seems to work, however there are still a few bugs. the major ones are lack of mousecontrol and the screen still has occasional graphics glitches.

also, 50th post woo!

#31215 warmonger: operation downtowm destruction

Posted by theShadow on 24 August 2010 - 12:37 PM in Ask for Help (Game Ports)

ok, I tried downloading the newest engine (ebony) and tried it. now the graphics show up behind the UI, but the screen occasionally flashes red, blue or green, and the mouse tracking does not work. (the mouse buttons are still fire, but moving the mouse does not move the view) I can rotate the view with the left and right arrow keys.

the mouse tracking is my main concern at this point.

any ideas?

#30695 warmonger: operation downtowm destruction

Posted by theShadow on 17 August 2010 - 07:05 PM in Ask for Help (Game Ports)

warmonger: ODD is based on the unreal engine 3. I am attempting to make a wineskin wrapper for it.

I am using the WS4 WineCXG9.0.0 engine at the moment. (would a different engine work better?)

so far, everything has gone smoothly, it installed correctly, and all that.

the first time I tried to run it, it gave me the starting splash screen, the screen turned white, but then it crashed giving me this error:

Runtime Error!

program: C\Program Files\NetDevil\Warmonger\Binaries\WMGame.exe

R6034
An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.
please contact the application's support team for more information.

any ideas? does the wineskin have visual C++, or do i need to install it manually?

#30786 warmonger: operation downtowm destruction

Posted by theShadow on 18 August 2010 - 07:28 PM in Ask for Help (Game Ports)

I tried wine1.3, no change.

I did look up "general protection faults" in general, and it is a fairly common problem, as far as I can tell.

would I have better luck trying something else? like cider or cxz?

#30775 warmonger: operation downtowm destruction

Posted by theShadow on 18 August 2010 - 05:42 PM in Ask for Help (Game Ports)

well, i tried installing the visual C++ library distribution package, and it no longer gives me a message about that, but now it gives me this:

General protection fault!

History: address = 0x5a257c (filename not found) [in C:\Program Files\NetDevil\Warmonger\Binaries\WMGame.exe]

also, I jave discovered that Warmonger seems to no longer exist. the website is down, the forum is down, and i can't find any "official" site for it ANYWHERE.

:\

looks like I am on my own with this.

#31182 warmonger: operation downtowm destruction

Posted by theShadow on 24 August 2010 - 02:18 AM in Ask for Help (Game Ports)

ok, I tried porting it with CXZ, (black diamond engine. it was the one I had) and now it launches, but it will only display in 600x800 (if I change it, the colors get all messed up) and when I start an actual game, the UI shows up, but nothing else (so basically crosshair, ammo bar, etc over a black background.) although I can move around and shoot and hear stuff breaking. (it's supposed to do that)

anyway, would a different cxz engine work better for this?

#30542 elder scrolls morrowind

Posted by theShadow on 16 August 2010 - 02:22 AM in Ask for Help (Game Ports)

hello

I installed elder scrolls morrowind with wineskin, and it seems to work fairly well. it does lag a bit and occasionally crash. I installed it with an empty wineskin I downloaded that was intended for use with farcry. would morrowind work better if I downloaded a blank wineskin?

I also got the construction set working, however, every time I attempt to save a mod, it crashes. any idea what might cause this?

finally, I tried to download and install something called the morrowind graphics extender (MGE). it is necessary in the installation of several mods designed to improve the graphics of morrowind considerably. however, I cannot get it to work.

any information I can post that would be helpful, please let me know and I will post it.

thank you for your time

huh. the problems I am having aren't really that bad. I mean, i have been playing it for 2 weeks now and it has crashed 3 times total.

#38458 Space Force- Rogue Universe

Posted by theShadow on 02 November 2010 - 01:20 PM in Ask for Help (Game Ports)

something else that may be helpfull: when I tried porting it to wineskin, I also get this error

Error RenderingSystem Init

and there are a couple topics about that on the SF rogue universe forum. apparently it has something to do with integrated graphics chips and how they are not supported. the newer macbook pro's (which I have) have 2 garphics cards. I wonder if the game is trying to start with the intel card, and failing.

#38370 Space Force- Rogue Universe

Posted by theShadow on 01 November 2010 - 09:34 PM in Ask for Help (Game Ports)

I am attempting to port Space force rogue universe. http://www.spaceforc....com/news2.aspx

I am using the demo for now.

so far, I have tried CXZ, CXG, and wine (multiple versions) with no success with any of them. every time it installs successfully, but then crashes after launch. (it is an internal crash, however, as it displays the windows crash dialogue box. )

here is the crash log

thank you for your time.

this is just awesome. After installing it, I am getting massive boosts to performance, and I have read about many others who have said the same thing.

i highly recommend you install it if you have not yet already done so.
