#77473 Suggestion: Decorate Buttons in Wineskin Just like "Decorate windows"

Posted by PommeGolden on 14 April 2012 - 07:43 AM in Wineskin Development

those dark rectangles are probably caused by the new (buggy) DIB engine... please file a bug report to wine if you want it to be fixed...

#77369 Wineskin 2.5.5 beta

my bad.. I forgot quartz-wm newest build has a dylib now and I forgot to put it in the wrapper... hard to keep track of everything sometimes when there's hundreds of them.  I'll get that added for the next beta.

Everything else people are reporting sounds good... I've worked hard getting things running right, and killing off 10.5 support helped a ton in that.... it mainly got around Mesa issues so I was able to stop using such an old build of Mesa, which should help OpenGL performance and stability.

EDIT:
Beta2 is fixed with the quartz-wm issue.

Confirming fixed in beta 2 thanks ~!!

#76456 Wineskin Vs PC!

Obviously native is faster. Even assuming DX10/11 is fully implemented & supported by wine, you will still need a Mac Pro with a real graphic card, not "intel onboard display".

you need to build your custom git build from source by yourself, usually updated ~6 times a week

#73810 Something is wrong with 2.5.4v2 engine base?

Posted by PommeGolden on 19 February 2012 - 05:37 AM in Wineskin Discussions

Its probably the build script.  If your using Xcode 4.1 with the 2.5 build base, then its using gcc-4.2 compiler, and not llvm-gcc-4.2.  I personally think the llvm version has tons more problems... I made 10.7 only use llvm because Apple has dumped the normal one, and when you install Xcode 4.2 and later you only get the llvm compilers...

i see, maybe i will try to upgrade Xcode to 4.2/4.3 later & try again to see if the problem is present or not. i'm using xcode 4.1 because i believe wine can't be compiled with stock xcode 4.2.X a while back....

#73806 Something is wrong with 2.5.4v2 engine base?

Quick update: Just downgraded engine base to 2.5 & built a custom 1.4-rc-4, the instant quit problem is now gone...

err:seh:raise_exception Unhandled exception code c0000005 flags 0 addr 0x7bc616be
err:module:attach_process_dlls "shlwapi.dll" failed to initialize, aborting
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for L"C:\\windows\\system32\\start.exe" failed, status c0000005

i think sth is possibly broken with 2.5.4v2 engine base which is causing custom engines to fail (port quits pretty much instantly without any prompt). the wine1.4-rc4 engine downloaded from winery totally does NOT have this quit problem VS same 1.4-rc4 unpatched custom build built from the same source code has this problem??? i'm quite sure this is not a wine bug at the moment.... seems all my custom engines all experience the same problem ever since i upgraded to 2.5.4v2 engine base earlier this week...

Mac OS X 10.7.3
Xcode 4.1

i will try to downgrade wineskin to 2.5.3 or earlier to see if the same problem is present or not.....

#73242 What still needs work for Wineskin?

P.S. Did anyone try the Crossover Games 10.3.0 engine? I'll give it a whirl later.

CXG10.3.0 contains merely minor bug fixes to CXG10.X.X (which is based on Wine 1.3.9 i believe) so essentially nothing new i guess

the patch is probably not going to work (unless you replace the entire section, like with the old audio hack).

Or revert all those dinput & dinput8 commits between the last known good build from the git & compile your own custom build :P

http://source.winehq...commit&s=dinput
http://source.winehq...ommit&s=dinput8

cd /winesourcefolder
patch -p1 < XXXXXXX01.patch -R
patch -p1 < XXXXXXX02.patch -R
patch -p1 < XXXXXXX03.patch -R
patch -p1 < XXXXXXX04.patch -R

#73060 Mouse wont force

Posted by PommeGolden on 05 February 2012 - 11:39 AM in Custom Wine Builds

Don't know the game. A bugzilla search shows the said bug has been fixed in 1.3.31 so the mouse hack patch is useless/pointless as far as 1.4rc-x is concerned
http://bugs.winehq.o...ug.cgi?id=16822

Please file a regression report if the mouse works in 1.3.31 but not 1.3.32-1.4rc-X

#72615 Shogun 2

AppDB lists Shogun 2 as "silver" so porting it with Wineskin should be quite straight forward, i suppose.

#71670 flickering fullscreen, fine in windowed

#71667 flickering fullscreen, fine in windowed

No flickering in 1.3.27, but it crashes after the Arkane logo. 1.3.26 and anything below is too slow to be playable. 1.36 would be well playable if not for the flickering.

Is the flickering present when DirectDrawRenderer is set to "opengl" in 1.3.27 or before?
http://wiki.winehq.o...fulRegistryKeys

Go to Winetricks > Settings and run ddr=opengl (Set DirectDrawRenderer to opengl)

  +-Direct3D
  |  |
  |  +->DirectDrawRenderer
  |  |   [Select what backend to use for ddraw. Valid options are:
  |  | gdi - Use GDI to draw on the screen
  |  | opengl - Use OpenGL (default)
  |  | The "gdi" option mostly exists for legacy reasons. Aside from bugs in the GL
  |  | renderer, only change this if you have a setup without OpenGL. Installing a software
  |  | GL implementation is the preferred solution in that case though.]

If the flickering is present when DDR=opengl in 1.3.27 or before, then it is a duplicate of my bug i filed a while back: http://bugs.winehq.o...ug.cgi?id=29261

#71662 flickering fullscreen, fine in windowed

Most likely an opengl renderer problem. Is the bug present in 1.3.27 when DirectDrawRenderer is set to opengl? It is entirely possible (& very likely in my opinion) your flicker exists well BEFORE 1.3.28/1.3.29.

1.3.28 was when DirectDrawRenderer is now defaulted to opengl instead of gdi. 1.3.29 was when a "skeleton" DIB engine is starting to get implemented.

Workaround for now is to set DirectDrawRenderer to gdi
