I encounter a strange problem with compatibility
err:jpeg:error_exit_fn Wrong JPEG library version: library is 90, caller expects 80
even thou I replaced the library in wrapper.
Looks like the engine should be compiled with library v8.

Why we need compatibility?
If a game works with old wrapper and old engine then let it be. It doesn't influence on new game.

Corrected in the engine 89s, see link in the first post.
Now it really uses libjpeg.9 and works!

I get a dropbox 404 error when trying to download the newest engine at the end of the first post. Is it a bad link or is dropbox not working correctly?

My last engine
https://dl.dropboxus...42-50-97.tar.7z
When I finished to correct calculation (there are my problems) I will shift to most recent wine-stage base.
Now you can check if DxTex.exe can load\save DDS textures as vanilla wine-stage can't.

I realized that we can use native d3dx9_36.dll.
I think we MUST use it. All prograll works much more better then with builtin one.
The same about d3d11.dll
Using this library I can play Unigine Heaven in DirectX11 mode.

So, I don't know if I need to somehow correct and support custom d3dx9_36.dll. Native one is the rule!

d3dx9_36.dll from Winetricks has been a staple. I think half of my wrappers or more have a native version of it. I was hoping they'd finish the implementation by now, but there are probably some nasty cases that are hard to figure out and program cleanly...

No, they are very far from full implementation of d3dx9_36.dll. I think only 10% fulfilled.
They said something like "wine should work out of bos without user interaction".
Good... but for now we should provide users by advices what to set in registry and what winetricks to use.

The work you are doing is absolutely awesome Slice. Regardless if the less recent patch set was used against new Vanilla Wine1.7.44 it's still more than what we have right now. I'd be interested in knowing what other patches you are using against the vanilla source. Is it possible to compare older versions wine to find out why certain aspects of an build work better than a new. Specific example is Stalker Call of Pripyat. The characters render correctly under WS9WineCX12.1.2AMDSpeedHack engine however if any newer engines are used the characters are malformed.

**edit, just tested your latest engine on WarFrame and it looks quite a bit better than the CX engine I was using.

Have you laid out any specific information on what we can do to help you test out these engines for better development? I'd be willing to help out when I can when time allows.

You weren't installing latest DX from MS - download June Redist offline installer from MS and use it on based on your wish. It will help you in most cases but never ever dare the bundling it to engine itself :ph34r:

I don't think I want to see bugs reports from testers. There are thousands bugs already known.
I don't want to compete with other developers, who's engine better and why. I want collaboration. I want other developers tell what can be done. I want smart tester said what is wrong and why.
I need my topic bugs to be resolved and I don't need a glory.

I'm the last guy that's worried about recognition...and I'm also not looking to provide you with bug reports or competition. All I am curious about is why there is such a major difference between an engine that is based on Wine1.5.25 (CX12.1.2) that works correctly to render non player characters in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series compared to newest versions of Wine.  My ultimate goal is to be able to play the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series with all of the latest Wine implementations without any graphical bugs but I have no idea how to figure out what the issue is.

About your bug. Did you check different UserQuirks? 1,2,4,8, and their combinations? Default is all set = 15. It probably covers all differences between HQ and CX,

Can I add multiple "UserQuirks"=dword:0000000x to the user.reg or can there only be one entry?

example

"UserQuirks"=dword:00000001
"UserQuirks"=dword:00000008

And when you say default is all set = 15, does this enable all user quirks?

The newest engine runs Resident Evil HD Remaster like a dream by the way!

My engine assumes some tricks.
1. After creating new blank wrapper with Wineskin you have to navigate to Wrapper.app/Contents/Frameworks and replace libraries with my versions
https://dl.dropboxus...apperUpdate.zip
2. Open "Set Screen Options" and set "Use Mac Driver Instead Of X11". Almost always required.
3. Open "Config Utility" and Enable/Disable CSMT. Some application will work faster, some may crashes.
CSMT hard using CPU so it will be hotter.
4. Open "Registry Editor" and navigate to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Direct3D"
Create new key UserQuirks as DWORD. Set value 0x0f
Later you may enable/disable some bits to see what is happen.
1 = BLIT_QUIRK
2 = DISABLE_DXTN  - it resolves bug #1
4 = RESERVE_12_UNIFORMS
8 = FIX_TEXCOORD
For pure Wine default is all set. So value = 0x0f

So basically, this is the chart we should ultimately follow when editing user quirks

Posted Image
free image uploading

Some explanation what those quirks do
1 = bit 0
  /* ATI Macs blend blits even though GL_EXT_framebuffer_blit says that this
   * operation does not blend. This sometimes even happens if GL_BLEND is
   * disabled, although in my glut test case blending has to be enabled for
   * the bug to occur. While we're at it, disable blending.
   *
   * Tracked by crossover hacks bug 5391. */
This hack is not included neither to WineHW nor to WineStage. Only in Crossover and conditionally in Sherry.
If set then will be applied.

2 = bit 1
If set then the game can't create Volume Textures compressed by DXTn method. Set this bit allows Heroes VI works.

4 = bit2
	/* MacOS needs uniforms for relative addressing offsets. This can accumulate to quite a few uniforms.
	 * Beyond that the general uniform isn't optimal, so reserve a number of uniforms. 12 vec4's should
	 * allow 48 different offsets or other helper immediate values. */

8 = bit3
	/* The Intel GPUs on MacOS set the .w register of texcoords to 0.0 by default, which causes problems
	 * with fixed function fragment processing. Ideally this flag should be detected with a test shader
	 * and OpenGL feedback mode, but some GL implementations (MacOS ATI at least, probably all MacOS ones)
	 * do not like vertex shaders in feedback mode and return an error, even though it should be valid
	 * according to the spec.
	 *
	 * We don't want to enable this on all cards, as it adds an extra instruction per texcoord used. This
	 * makes the shader slower and eats instruction slots which should be available to the d3d app.
	 *
	 * ATI Radeon HD 2xxx cards on MacOS have the issue. Instead of checking for the buggy cards, blacklist
	 * all radeon cards on Macs and whitelist the good ones. That way we're prepared for the future. If
	 * this workaround is activated on cards that do not need it, it won't break things, just affect
	 * performance negatively. */
default yes

Hey Slice, thanks for your June 8 OS X Wine build - it is really fantastic, especially with Everquest 2 on high settings!

Can you advise me how to get libtxc_dxtn compiled into a wineskin build on OS X? I have it compiling against SDK 10.8 headers but don't know how to get it into the wine dylib.  I am looking to do this for a custom build I am working on specifically for SWTOR on OS X that has some patches not worked in to staging yet - (one of them was actually a workaround/hack written by a staging coder, I think.)

Thanks again!

My engine have dxtn support embedded.
If you want other custom wine then search libtxc_dxtn.so and replace it to libtxc_dxtn.dylib
Take this library from my WrapperUpdate or compile it by yourself for Mac with CFLAGS=-dynamic

Do you have an updated link for your source files Slice?

I am able to find the libtxc_dxtn.dylib in the newest wrapper update that I downloaded it but I am unable to find the .so file.

Would it be possible for you to upload it?

Hey Danko, I don't think you need the .so files unless you are on linux or doing a funky install on your Mac.

I had success loading the libtxc_dxtn.dylib into a new Wine 1.7.44 staging build using these steps here:  http://portingteam.c...le/#entry103792

Hope that helps.

Hi Slice, I tried it in a new wrapper that I try to work, but it crash at start (the same with others engine)...
The crash get me the info regarding the system:

System information:
Wine build: wine-1.7.44-197-ge46d5dc
Platform: i386
Host system: Darwin
Host version: 14.3.0

Why is wine build 1.7.44?

Also, Neverwinter Online will no longer start as the d3d11 stubs from staging seem to be missing.

I noticed this most recent build is almost 4MB smaller than the last, which was already .5 MB less than my raw staging build of the same wine version, so it seems like some additions were cut or got missed?

I haven't tested it yet with SWTOR, but I will let you know when I do.

You may use native d3d11.dll
