I am trying to get Homeworld Remastered to work by following this guide and using the custom exe creator in wineskin. When I attempt to run homeworld remastered an error message stating that opengl has failed to load pops and the game exits. Now according to: https://developer.ap...ties/index.html since I am running OS X 10.10 Yosemite my 330M should support opengl 3.3, which is what's required by homeworld remastered so I am at a loss as to why I keep getting this opengl error message.

Has anyone here had any success with homeworld remastered or seen a similar issue occur with opengl in another game?

Thanks

I finally got a chance to mess with this some more, still no change. I think the error causing this is "avicap:query_video_device Video 4 Linux support not enabled" not sure though. Log posted below

Spoiler

Did you place the EXE Flags in the configure pane of Wineskin?

Homeworld One
-dlccampaign HW1Campaign.big -campaign HomeworldClassic -moviepath DataHW1Campaign -mod compatibility.big

Homeworld Two
-dlccampaign HW2Campaign.big -campaign Ascension -moviepath DataHW2Campaign -mod compatibility.big

Here's a rundown of the Wineskin Configuration Pane - http://wineskin.urge...- Configuration

Yes, though I'm using an exe created with the custom exe creator so that steam is running before homeworld tries to launch. When I tried launching homeworld with the main exe command it seemed like steam would try and force the use of the launcher instead of HomeworldRM.exe which is supposed to be avoided.

So I took a look at the AppDB and it seems that HW2R depends on MS .Net 4.0...you can try installing it through Winetricks but the best bet would be to create a new wrapper, install msxml3 first, then install dotnet4 after restarting Winetricks. I've found that installing msxml3 (included in Win OS's nowadays) prevents a lot of potential errors. Most notably with these frameworks and vcrun2010.

There's also an MS .Net 4.5 Frameworks folder available for download here ---> http://portingteam.c...crosoft-net-45/

I've been trying to find a workaround for that "opengl failed to load" error too without success.

i installed :
steam
every d3dx9 dll
.net 2.0 thru 4.0
msxml 3
corefonts
tahoma
vcrun2005
vcrun2008
vcrun2010
vcrun2012

Some are probably overkill but were referenced either in AppDB, or on the Steam guide.

Did you guys found a way eventually ? Care to publish your wrapper if you did ?

Check what opengl version your computer is running. It turned out that, in spite of what Apple's website claimed, my little 2010 macbook only had the drivers for opengl 2.1 and Homeworld remastered requires a minimum of opengl 3.3. Your system might be out of spec too, in which case there is nothing you can do other than get a new graphics card or computer.

I don't think it has to do with hardware more so Wine's compatibility with OpenGL3.3

+1 (I'm on Yosemite + AMD 6750M, this system supports OGL 4.1)
Anyway, it looks like folks over at WineHQ made it work.

Myself, i've turned to Aspyr's Mac port. Be advised, it's quite crash-prone whenever performance drops too much. Judging by the app package contents, it looks like a native port.

Linux operating systems libraries have the correct implementation in Wine for OpenGL 3.3, however the Mac libraries for 3.3 are not recognized by Wine...I believe. If I'm wrong anyone, please correct me.

So whereas systems (like mine and meego's) which supports it natively, will not support it through Windows ports using Wine.

Hi guys, did anyone managed to run Homeworld Remastered on wine or CrossOver? I mean it's 2020 for corona sake!
