It would be a nice thing to have, inside this topic, a sort of manual or a tutorial on how to add the engine to already existing (downloaded) game.

I think that falls entire outside this topic, as it is covered in wineskin tutorials: You don't add it to a game, you download it into the winery and then change the engine in the wrapper. And if you don't know what that means, go read the manual :) .

Thanks. I've managed to do it, however the game is flickering and it is unplayable. :(

That is game specific, so probably best to start a thread on that in the wineskin discussions forum.

Is there an IRC chat or something similar?

There is a discord, but I just meant the other subforum here. You posted in the 'custom engine' subforum, which is not typically the place for help with a game in general...

Is anyone else seeing a problem with Fonts being blocky or low res on the 10.8+ versions. It seems anything I try over 3.5 has terrible font rendering.

When I go in and change the engine in my wrapper I can even see this when the windows looking dialog comes up that says something about the wine configuration being updated. If that dialog has low res fonts then the app does too.

I've tried playing with the settings a bit, but nothing seems to work. If I use the mac driver I get a very small app window and the fonts seem to look ok when tiny, but it's obviously hard to use an app in miniature. Is there some other settings I should look at or is this a bug in the newer versions?

TIA

This is because the 10.8+ versions use a higher freetype version that caused a regression in Wine.

I think Kevo1 is using stock Wineskin, since I included a working freetype version along with a font fix built into startup and shutdown scripts. And the Mac driver giving tiny windows was also fixed by VitorMM a good while back in unofficial and upstream unreleased 3.0.

Yes, I was using the released version from the website. I didn't realize there was an unofficial version available. I can't remember how I found this thread that had a link to newer wine engines, but I linked in from somewhere at some point and have been occasionally upgrading my engines.

I'll try the unofficial version. Thanks.

And... seems to work fine.

Is there any chance you could compile a 4.0 build that works on Snow Leopard?  It would be nice to have an occasional engine(I don't need them all) that still worked on my aging laptop since every so often they fix bugs on old games. The last engine I had that worked was 3.5 and a game I was following got a bug fixed in 3.6.

I use the unofficial winery with all the new engines on my other Mac which is currently High Sierra(plan to upgrade to Mojave soon) but its not a laptop and I don't always have access to that computer.

If it's too much trouble to go back to the old dev. environment though that is okay.  Thx.

All engines unstable i.e. have bugs leading to crash in some games.
Staging Engines fix some of the bugs but lead to other bugs.
