Having run this under VMWare fusion under Windows XP (it's a Win 3.11 game, but it works fine under XP still), i thought i would have no problem under Wine.

I had a few troubles installing Video for Windows, but that was mainly I had to use Wintricks (Windows XP) forced.

I set max to 1024MB, and resolution set to 640x480, as that's hard coded in the game,, However run i run up, all i get is a black screen.

Not even the cut scenes starts..

I did do a heavy install, and copied over all the speech files from CD Rom (otherwise you would get an AVI error) in game.. when playing without CD

Anyway to get this running under Wine ?

using Winskin 2.6.2 but i guess i should try another.

Don’t waste your time with Wineskin for that game, you should be using dosbox

So separate dosbox ?
I was guessing since all my ported games are running successfully under Wineskin anyway,  I could add Darkseed II to this as well. If not natively in Wineskin, then perhaps run DosBox in wineskin running Windows XP, but then i fear too many things could go wrong... If needs be i'll just keep it separate.

i.e i could sound working is DosBox itself, so adding wineskin may be just causing more trouble, than it's worth.

The fewer layers that are used the better as each will cause slowdowns and introduce other potential issues.

A known dosbox front end on macOS would be boxer.

Darkseed 2 is a Windows game though, not a dos game, and I do use VMWare Fusion on Mac, so which direction would you go? WHat advantage would Dosbox give me in this case?
