Just used this wrapper with MW2 and single player seems to be working pretty well, but when i go to Multiplayer, I can't even move my mouse. Any suggestions?

That is some amazing work you did there.
I dl'd Company of Heroes and though the textures are low low low, the game works fluidly on my MBP.
Medieval Total War 2 however had some problems displaying graphics and massive amounts of slow down.
Wonderful work nevertheless.

I updated this with the scroll patch. It seems this is version 3.2 of the wrapper, while the current version of the wrapper is 3.5. Does the scroll patch make the wrapper 3.5, or are the more files needed to be fixed?

I wanted to create a steam cxs port for some friends using the latest wrapper, but the steam .msi installer isn't working it seems, so i was just planning on updating your version.

basically just the scroll patch, the other files should be more complicated.
Or just take the new 3.5 wrapper

How can i get the msi working with the latest version of the wrapper then? Or should your steam version+scroll patch be fine for now?

Can i just install steam on windows, and copy the folder into the wrapper?

Seem to have got it working with the new wrapper. I just installed it on windows and copied the program file folder over. Will this create any problems as registry values were supposedly created during the windows install?

How does this one differ from:

viewtopic.php?f=33&t=338&hilit=steam

besides the option to download CXS?

It is CXZ BLACK Diamond, so it supports Left 4 Dead 2.
That's the only difference I think.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

So, I deinstalled the other steam and installed this one. I reinstalled the latest engines, but it wouldn't load. Any ideas why? :(
-----
NVM, I got it work. Guess I had to wait a little longer for the installed engines to kick in. ;)

So far, mw2 works fine with this, but a bit laggy when too many things are happening. Unfortunately, most of video options' details are low. And no full screen at least for multiplayer.

Team Fortress 2 works great except for the random freezes and then it crashes. I don't know exactly at what point it makes the game freeze, but I know there is a pattern.

A good thing this wrapper!

It gets difficult as soon as you use e.g. Undeads Steam Injector. If using Black Diamond the games afterwards don't start in Steam, when using Jade the games start but you get the dreaded white screen error.

As it works fine in crossover i wonder at which point the engines do something weird/different...

Anyone know a fix for the fonts in this? Some fonts  in the steam ui are really garbled and screwy (but readable), the same thing happens on the serverlist in games like counterstrike

Amazing compatibility, used this to run HL2 and absolutely everything worked, not a bug in sight.  That said, even on lower graphics settings it seems to get a bit laggy when theres any real detail on screen (something cider doesn't do).  I'm running a intel i5 quad core with 8gb of ram, so likely processing power isn't the issue here.  That said, I'm very impressed, and the game is still more than playable.

Haha, trying to pass it off as authentic just weeks before the official launch for Mac.....I'm pretty stoked about that actually!

I tried to install the Serious Sam HD Demo with this wrapper and everything downloads correctly but unfortunately when I launch the game a box pops up and says "completing installation" it goes to one percent...hangs there for a minute and another message box pops up and says something like unable to complete the task and gives me a link to steam support. Maybe it's just not compatible but I thought there was a cxz port of this game. Any input?

To answer a question from a bunch of posts back.....the game files should end up in program files > Steam > SteamApps or maybe common files.....I think when you download full games it creates a folder in Steam Apps with your Steam user name.

There is probably no point in posting this since the release of steam for mac is only around the corner, but i has an error.

Well. I have all the engines installed, and using the CXZ version, but mind you, this was happening on CXS aswell.

When i launch it, it closes automatically. Which i thought was normal, because when i launch it the second time it kicks in.

Updating, updating works, i think. It gets to the 99% mark (which is perfectly normal!) and nothing happens. It closes automatically. No steam launch, no login, no... nothing.

I re open it by launching the app, and it doesnt even bounce, just closes. Did that twice and it stays open for aout 4 seconds. Did that one more time and i catch it in the dock and click it. It shows a mini steam symbol in the top left of the big one in the dock (the small icon is normal part of Crossover thus a normal part of CXZ and other game ports with it ive seen). the small one goes away with steam still in the dock (once again, normal) but nothing shows up. It stays as a blank screen with your steam icon in the dock.

I think it was there for about half an hour before i quit it.

So i didnt even see the login screen which was a shame :(

I tried to run it through terminal, no errors or anything.

Can someone help? Im stumped.

Thanks for your time, SS.

EDIT: Took a while, but it works fine. Thank ye.

Install this:

Snow Leopard's X11

then it should work.

Let's figure out exactly what you're doing. So did you install the L4D2 game directly into the Steam wrapper? I believe the game files need to be in a different location then they would with a normal port of L4D2 in CXZ, this wrapper's info.plist should not be changed, leave it as is.

Basically when you double click it you won't get L4D2 right away, you'll get signed into your steam account. Once that happens then you'll have to add Non Steam games and then choose your Left 4 Dead 2 app and it will associate itself to that and you can launch it with Steam every time, or you can add the game files into the Steam app if it's the online play you are looking for...in which case I would suggest that you download the game directly from Steam....I'm pretty sure an authentic copy is required to play online.

DankoB, you can just copy the game files over from your existing, legal steam account to save an 8gb download, if your worried about your bandwidth.
