"zeroPSX", a custom Wrapper for the great Playstation Emulator ePSXe in the Windows world.
I mainly did this because the Playstation Emulation for the mac has dried up, FlareStorm and macPCSX have bitten the dust a long time ago, and because ePSXe's compatibility is very high.

Any Ideas on how to improve zeroPSX are always welcome.

Please keep the "how can i configure zeroPSX/ePSXe for Game XXX?" questions minimal, or as reasonable as possible.

Edit:
Development of this Emulator with the CX Wrapper has been halted, but everything gets copied over to the new zeroPSX Hybrid Emulator with a Snow Leopard compatible CXS wrapper.
see here: http://forum.porting...php?f=31&t=1862
Fresh start, great potential.
So use this CX Port of the emulator only when you have 10.4 Tiger, otherwise i recommend the newer zeroPSX Hybrid version (CXS)

zeroPSX - older Version 0.8.0  http://www.mediafire.com/?rjzk5nmilmy[/hide]

Don't forget to delete your zeroPSX Folder in your username/Application Support Folder when updating to a new build, or the new files won't get copied over.

changelog:

-vX.X.X
Snow Leopard betas are up.

-v1.0.5
added custom shader options; thanks for the hint, bizartist.
To use a custom shader (like a HQ2X effect for example) go to the Video Plugin-> Configure
then go to Full screen filters > shader effects > 5:GLSlang files (gpuPeteOGL2.slv/slf) and
navigate to My Computer->c_drive->Program Files->PSX->shaders-> then the shader effect (folder) you want.

-v1.0.0
zeroPSX v1.0.0 uses the newest ePSXe 1.7.0
updated all Plugins (and left some of the working older Plugins)
resuming the Game works now. (not with the older GPU plugins)
the standard configuration is now for Final Fantasy VII, but most other Games work good as well without configuring anything in the Plugins

-v0.8.0:
removed unnecessary Code and Files form the Wrapper
cleaned out the registry
better looking Disk Image with Instructions and link to the G.P.T main site
new icon

-v0.5.0:
initial release

Known Bugs:
- sometimes there are some garbled screen effects when resuming in fullscreen mode
- clicking the 'configure Soft Video Plugin' results in a hangup

report other bugs to me after testing it

Works like a charm. Crossover doesn't support USB gamepads does it?
Cider does, but it will not be compatible with the configuration windows displayed by ePSXe. :-(

Anyways, great finally a very compatible PSX emulator that is running on OSX.

Nope, Crossover won't recognize Gamepads. But try it the way i described it in the FAQ. Everything works, except rumble.

I think you can't make ISOs from normal CDs, only from DVDs.
Try to make .bin & .cue files from your CDs with Toast or whatever burning/ripping software you use.

When you are using Richard Bannister's Emulation Enhancer with his emulators you might want to choose NOT to install USB Overdrive as they can interfere with one another. Richard himself has stated that on the emuscene website.

I have a quick question, and maybe it's quite simple...I hope so. Well I have a game disc of a PSX game that I'm trying to play. I insert it into my Macbook and then opened zeroPSX. What or how exactly do I run the disc from here? I clicked File>Run CDRom and that was a no go. Sorry for the confusion, but if anyone could help answer this question for me it would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks.

I can't seem to run compressed bin.bz files.  Only bin seems to work.  Any help?

I just assumed that it was able to read bin.bz files since it lets you compress bin files in the application itself (under cdrom -> configure Mooby2 cd disk image driver 2.8).

I have updated the zeroPSX Wrapper; mainly fixed some interface errors and removed unnecessary Code, so i'm bumping this release to v0.8.0.
see the changlog for more info.

Might as well re-post that I'm having trouble running these games:

-Blast Chamber:  Input doesn't seem to work.  Game loads OK, I just can't get past the menu screen.

-Future Cop LAPD:  Hangs after the title screen.  Though I've read that the game isn't compatible with the latest ePSXe, so...

-Gex 2 & 3:  Neither game loads.  I've tried with several different video and audio modes, to no avail.  Using the Eternal SPU sound plug-in, which was suggested on other boards, doesn't work either.  Apparently ePSXe 1.5.2 works for the games but 1.6.0 doesn't.  Can anyone confirm this on the Mac side?

-Street Sk8er:  Doesn't load.  Not sure why.

-Tomb Raider 1 & 2:  Screen goes black and stays that way after I try to select either Lara's Home or the main game.  I've read that this occurs if you're playing using a disk image and not the CD, as the CD is necessary to access the music tracks.  But other games which use Redbook audio don't have issues, so I'm not sure why these are different.  Any ideas?

-Umjammer Lammy:  Loads fine until you try to get to the main game; it just displays the loading screen and not the actual gameplay (though the music can still be heard).

Now that Darwine (WINE builds) and X11-2.3.3 work with accelerated 3D, anyone think that these Wine builds might be better than using crossover versions?

I've heard that there is USB Gamepad support working too.

for those looking on how to cheat:
The Emulator doesn't come with a builtin cheating function, but a cheat plugin can be added. I'll try to built in this plugin, but it gets configured with a different executable. I'll see if and how it works and post an update later on.
