Is this game possible to port? I wouldn't mind playing it, as I've heard it's pretty cool.
Thanks to anyone who helps. I'll try my best to make a working port too, but my skills aren't to great,

FPS are even worse than on Windows (~15 FPS on a 8600GT low settings except shaders). Don't even try to run the game on hardware lower than a GF8 it will not work!

not yet

Ran fine on my 2007 mpb (128mb card) on normal under bootcamp.
So i don't know why it wouldn't be such a problem for beefier computers.

last time i tried think it was an engine error. cryengine started to freak out and instantly crashed. though do note that a crack is necessary to even get the game to run.

Thanks, is it worth having a go myself at all or are we to conclude at this moment it's impossible to port Crysis??

It is not impossible.
I tested Darkuser's wrapper and I fixed his wrapper a bit.
Now it supports the mouse in menu and in-game.
Also you are able to enable dx10. And some other small fixes.
But there are some dx errors. You cannot see any graphical errors, but you find them in the log.
That is why the game is so unbelievable slow, that he will not release the wrapper till this is fixed.

If you want to try it by yourself: You NEED a custom wine build and a nvidia graphic card.
Grab the patch from winehq and also search for the force_edge hack.
For dx10 you need dx10 for xp. Also you need some porting experience.
Because of the necessary patch from the winehq it is currently not possible to use another wrapper then
wineskin. Or does someone here know, where to get the crossover or cider source code?

hmm, as I'm a noob at this cider malarky haha, I'll just wait it out and read up on this site. I've tried crossover etc and played around a fair bit but to no avail, alway's crashes at the intro video. Maybe we'll get a breakthrough with VMware or Parallels? But then that means using Windows again... Crysis is pretty much the only game I have that won't work  :(

If I had a Mac Pro it would work in a virtual machine.

It's great to see that progress is being made on a Crysis wrapper.  I've wanted to play that game for a long time.  Keep up the great work!  Hopefully it'll be fully playable sometime soon.
