Linux is great, but on the desktop I prefer OSX.  Still, I cut my teeth on Linux and will always have respect for all the people who devote their time to it.  If you put in the time you can have a much more advanced desktop setup than either of the commercial OSes.  Compiz is pretty sweet.  Still, OSX has lots of retail software and sweet consistency, plus I like coding in Cocoa.

Personally I find Mac OSX to be my favorate, im just used to the way it works now and find it much more pleasant to look at. Also time machine is a massive help.

Windows is fine, does most things you want it to but is boring.

Linux is better than everyone else says its not complicated and you rarely need to use the terminal. I use it for hosting a teamspeak server that is very stable.

The thing about this question is that people on Windows usually will say Windows because they've never had a Mac. People who have Macs will say Mac! Which means Windows [i]usually[i] wins.
I have a Mac so +1 Mac

Running linux for anything but servers or development is a joke... Windows and Mac both have their uses. Mac UI>Windows UI.

But mac is also unix... seriously every wonder how mac and linux are sooo similar, that's because they have the same roots, mac can be fooled into accepting linux so here's what i think
1. windows XP (we were men back then
2. unix based operating system
Excellent

Wow! Windows hands down.
Maybe because I've used Windows pretty much most of my life but I've been using a Mac for quite a while now and its... complicated to put it into words atm Windows is my heart and soul I grew up with it so until I know OSX like the back of my hand like I understand Windows, my choice is Windows.
First personal Mac used is a MacBook Pro, given that I'm obviously young a MacBook Pro is my first Mac device I've EVER used.

Linux is great too, only distro I've used though sadly is Ubuntu and Backtrack
