Halo 2

Posted Image

it would be great if halo 2 could work on mac.
so far i havn't made it work through crossover or cider, maybe someone else will have better successes?

Thanks

Game Description:
Halo 2 is a first-person shooter video game developed by Bungie Studios. Released for the Xbox video game console on November 9, 2004, the game is the second video game title in the Halo franchise and the sequel to 2001's critically-acclaimed Halo: Combat Evolved. A Windows Vista version of the game was released on May 31, 2007, developed by an internal team at Microsoft Game Studios referred to as "Hired Gun". The game features a new game engine, as well as using the Havok physics engine; added weapons and vehicles, and new multiplayer maps.

I've tried this also, and no luck. This would be cool if it worked with crossover, but so far it doesn't.

Cider it doesn't work, because cider doesn't support Vista in windows emulation version, and the XP Patch is a command line thing, so it won't run.

Too bad..

that's what I had to do. I installed XP then patched it, and it worked perfectly even on my lame MacBook.

I'm kind of confused by what you mean. If you mean a release for mac, it doesn't.

If you mean a release for vista and XP, it doesn't either.

Maybe if you install this into a Vista bottle with CrossOver it could be possible.

What file exactly does the xp patcher patch?
Maybe it works in cider with the patched files.

the xp patcher doesn't patch anything. it is a .bat file that launches two .exe files at the same time (the halo2.exe and a startup.exe). both the halo2.exe and the startup.exe are not wine compatible.

I don't think it'll work with VMWare or Parallels but can confirm it works with a normal install of Windows, finished the game on my MBP with XP.

So is there a way now to play it on a mac??

Or do we have to play it over boot camp?
Would be soo cool not to have to reboot just for the game!

These additional installs are required to get it working in XP via the batch file that runs two programs:
    [*:2j98zv6s]vcredist.msi
    [*:2j98zv6s]XLiveRedist1.0.6027.msi

If these files are also included in one of the newer cider builds, is it possible it might work?  I don't know, I'm just wondering what some experts might say.

Okay, we have already "achieved the impossible" with crysis, I was reading posts on other forums about Halo 2. this is currently "impossible" or is it? How far off are we from achieving this?
