i think the chances for an official port are at exactly 0 %. EA announced, that there will be no Mac Port of this game, if i'm not mistaken.

is there a way to stop the game to make this check? (without much coding?)

The cracks work (except the Keygen Activator) but the game still makes a check to the servers for some reason. This check is whats preventing the game from working because its causing a crash since the method the check uses is not implemented into Wine.
This is also the reason that the Keygen Activator doesn't work. Because it has to use the same check method as NFS:HS.

I tried way too much to port this game, even tried altering wine's code at the parts where it doesn't work for NFS. First of all, wbemprox is not fully implemented (WMI). It tries there to check for an active network connection by querying WMI. This fails. And it's maybe this part is why it doesn't launch.

Using the native wbemprox.dll should work, but there is another problem there. It tries to start a service, but this fails also, because the service is not starting as a service (lol). So the native wbemprox.dll is failing, and causing the game to also fail.

I wonder what else will fail after these are fixed... :P

Are you sure your not crashing out with this in the logs:
fixme:wbemprox:wbem_locator_ConnectServer 0x1cb238, L"ROOT\\CIMV2", (null), (null), (null), 0x00000000, (null), (nil), 0xbb811cc)
Bugzilla Report

If your using CiderX it wont show that though.

Does the actual game show up for you? For me its just a black screen and a generic wine error message

any advances?
Has anyone tried to just copy the files, which generates the installer under a normal windows instead of trying to install it with wineskin ( i have no windows atm, so i cant check :-( )?
i found 2 different cracks on the internet
1) crack somehow tries to change the activation process---no result (the activation manager appears and wants a serial)
2) crack replaces the NFS11.exe --- result: black screen and wine error

is there a third (different) crack?

and as a consequence we can't do anything besides waiting for the wine team to implement this specific thing, or is there any way to bypass it?

unless a crack comes that totally disables autolog connections and turns the game into an offline one

wbemprox probably doesn't cause the crash. It's the reason why NFS:HP cant connect to the EA Servers (so it seems... if someone could get a serial key we could confirm/deny that) but it's not making the crash... Though it may still be a contributing factor.

Way to test this out.
Install the game into a wrapper, don't crack it, instead launch the game and where it says enter a serial number just press "next" a couple of times. Quit and check the logs. The fixme:wbemprox:wbem_locator_ConnectServer 0x1a00f0, L"ROOT\\CIMV2", (null), (null), (null), 0x00000000, (null), 0x0, 0xc6f1b0) will come up a lot but there was never a crash.

We should find the exact line that causes the crash and submit that to bugzilla.

This also happens in the Reloaded Activator Serial Generator.

edit: It comes up regardless of whether you press next or not.

Ok, here's the log. I clicked next on the activator window, dont enter a serial number and click next again, then it tells me the serial is invalid. I click cancel. quit. Here's the wine log: (i figured its short enough to paste)

I'm not sure if this helps at all. Any ideas?

The wbemprox error is a windows log file to tell you something has gone wrong.

http://msdn.microsof...px#wbemprox.log

Quote from the M$ website:

Quote

This is a WMI connection error that you receive for one of the following reasons:

Incorrect server is specified
Incorrect credentials
Environment error, such as the RPC server is unavailable
Connecting to a Windows 95 or Windows 98 computer that does not have Winmgmt.exe running.

So I would just ignore that, it doesnt really do anything. Just means its having troubles contacting the server (so even a legit key might not work)

It will only cause a crash if you clicked the buttons 3000 times....

Yeah that's why I was thinking we should find a different line. It doesnt sound like that error would cause the crash, so if we found the right line and submitted that to bugzilla it would be better.

ole32.dll hasn't been fully implemented. It's 84% done.
CoInitializeSecurity is an undocumented and unimplemented export (part) of ole32. This seems more likely to be the problem rather then wbem_locator_ConnectServer (export/part of wbemprox).

Your better off messing with ole32, but it still seems unlikely we'll get anywhere unless someone gets into the wine code and implements CoInitializeSecurity and then wbem_locator_ConnectServer if needed.

It doesn't work, sorry:

I did the patch, that did work, then i copied the crack in the game directory, run it with wine, and finally run the launcher.exe but there's only the activation window as usual.
All this actions were performed offline.

Does it work at your mac?
What did i do wrong?

It's unportable for now.  Every variable has been tested.  I even used a legitimate version of the game, but nothing.  It's an awesome game though if you've tried it :D.
