STATUS:
- ATI : GREEN
- NVIDIA : GREEN
- GMA : GREY

Game Description:
Ys Origin (イース・オリジン, Īsu Orijin) is a Japanese Action RPG released in 2006 for Microsoft Windows by Nihon Falcom. It is the seventh game in the Ys series but as a prequel, it is the first in terms of chronology. It is the first game in the series not to revolve around the adventures of Adol Christin.

Personal Notes:
None at this time.

Plot:
Taking place 700 years before the events of "Ancient Ys Vanished" (Ys I & II), this game tells much of the back-story of Ys, Darm Tower, the Black Pearl, the twin goddesses and the six priests. The game revolves around three characters as they journey through Darm Tower: Yunica Tovah, Hugo Fact and Thor Fact . Each character has their own motives for climbing the tower and playing through with all three characters will reveal the entirety of the events taking place.

Port Info:
Port is with CXE Ebony. Cd check has been compromised but nothing has been ripped. So far this is only in Japanese.

Added English Port - Port is with CiderX Cider 5313. Cd check has been compromised (if you mount the mini iso) but nothing has been ripped. Patched to version 1.1 - Extra Disc Installer added.

Minimum System Requirements:
- OS: Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11 Mac OS X 10.5.8 Leopard / Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard / Mac OS X 10.7 Lion
- CPU: Intel Core Processor
- RAM: 512mb
- Video: nVidia 8xxx Series or AMD 3xxx or 4xxx Series Video Card recommended
- about 2 gigs of hard drive space

Known Issues:
Controllers not tested. Game has not been tested with Macs with GMA 950 chipsets, though it is likely to work. Intro video does not work.

Installation:
Combine all parts - mount the dmg and drag to you app folder or wherever - click to play.

For the next wrapper, let's not use the no-cd exe.
I have a no-cd iso somewhere. I'll put it in the next pack.

My sentence was poor and confusing.

I meant to say in the version I posted above I did not use a no cd crack - for version 1.0.0 you do not need one - because as soon as you play the game once with the CD in it - you do not need to do us a cd again to play it.

Not so with later versions however. IF the nocd breaks something, that miniiso will fix it, as a nocd modified exe will be unnecessary

Post the mini iso - does it work in Wine?

I tried 1.1.1.0 version in Cider 5019 - and it crashed at the same point.

Anyone got the Steam version working ?
I tried many wrappers (CrossOver 10.1, PlayOnMac/WineSkin with many Wine versions) and I still couldn't get the Steam version to run.
I got the title screen working, that's all (using native quartz).

EDIT:
I finally got the Steam version working in CrossOver games.
How I did it:
- Downloaded the game in Steam in another bottle (dedicated to Steam)
- Downloaded a cracked exe for the Steam version of the game
- Created a bottle for the game using the CrossTie on Codeweaver's website: http://www.codeweave...me/?app_id=5531 . I skipped the game installation part in the process.
- I copied the game folder from the Steam bottle to the Ys Origin bottle and replaced the exe with the one I've downloaded in Step 2
- Launched the exe with the Launch program command in COG.

As stated in the first post, intro video doesn't work.

Yeah, you're right. I didn't check the text boxes before and I just did.
I will try using another wrapper.

EDIT:
Okay, I was able to run the game using PlayOnMac (with Wine 1.5.15) using a new bottle having the following librairies installed:
- directx_Jun2010_redist
- vcredist_x86

The text doesn't go off the screen anymore. VSync doesn't work so I have to change the settings of the game to have a FPS count higher than 60 FPS, otherwise I get huge tearing on my screen.

This port was for the CD / DVD game only - long before it was out on Steam.

I do not have the game on Steam to test / fix any issues.
