Porting Team Webclip Icon
Posted 11 January 2011 - 12:10 AM
apple-touch-icon.png and apple-touch-icon-precomposed.png are missing.
Now where have i heard this before? Right, iPhone Webclips.
When someone adds a bookmark to a Page in iOS, mobile Safari looks for those two files and uses them as a Webclip icon on your Homescreen.
I wanted to add this little icon some time ago, but simply forgot about it.
Here's the thing:
Does someone of you graphics Geniuses want to make a Webclip icon for us?
As i've seen in the Logs, a lot of users add us to their Homescreen (about 10 People a day), so your Icon would show up on a lot of iPhones/iPads/iPods.
Because of the limited size on the iPhone Icons the webclip icon should not have too much detail, and should be nice to look at 57x57 pixel.
Currently i have copied Apple's Webclip icon to our site, so that we have one in the meantime. (works currently only if you bookmark the Forum and not the main Page, i'm onto that)
If you want to create a Homescreen icon for us here, make an icon that represents us in 128x128 pixel (good enough for the Retina Display), and the icon should be clearly viewable when it's downsized to 57x57 pixel that the other iDevices use, so use a simple shape.
Don't add any gloss or rounded effects to the pic, iOS will add them automatically.
- picture with 128x128 pixel
- not too much detail, stay with simple shapes (or you can't figure it out what that is in 57x57 pix)
- no gloss or rounded effects.
- not an icon of a Wrapper, but something that symbolizes us in general (i have no idea what that could be :D )
Here are some references of some other sites/blogs:

Edit: While looking for an idea(and looking through my themes on my ipod touch 2g) i found a Theme i used a while ago that had a custom icon for the porting team web short cut...so here it is
here is what it looks like
i know the icon has no symbolic reference to the forum but i thought it looked nice
