This is like the guess the game thread. But in here you post a brain teaser. There is only one rule. You have to anwser the brain teaser in order to post a new one.

Now guess what this word is. What is the only english word, in which you could delete the last four letters and get the same sound?

Hint:
It's a five letter word.

Close enough, it's 3:16 + 4/11 of a second.

The minute hand goes 60 min (360 deg) in an hour and the hour hand moves from 3 to 4 (5 min in minute hand terms, 30 deg).

So the overlap time X after 3pm would be a solution for x/60 = x/5 - 3 or 16+4/11 min (3:16:21.82)

Answer is not helicopter.

Glass?

Late one evening, a man and a his wife were driving their car at speed down a country road. The car spun off the road and hit a tree. The man decided to seek help at a garage a few miles away.
He made sure nobody was in the car, rolled all the windows up, and locked all of the doors.
When he returned, his wife was dead, and there someone in the car he had never seen before.
No physical damage was done to the car, it was still locked?
How did the woman die?
Where did the stranger come from?

Haha that's a cruel choice, it's impossible to answer unless you're either A) Very creative, or B) Have heard it before (or C) you cheat). Good luck to everyone else anyway, I won't give the answer away :P

Since this kind of locked up the thread, the answer was:
The woman was pregnant, she gave birth and died while the father was gone. The stranger was the baby.

While this might not seem like it fits with the original puzzle, note that the puzzle wasn't written exactly like it should have (at least I don't think it was). Either way, that was the answer.

Nowayback: I give you the honours of coming up with a new riddle/brain teaser :P

I think this is a quite simple one, but here we go:

The man who made it didn't need it.
The man who bought it didn't want it.
The man who is using it doesn't know that he is using it.

What is it?

Dammit!

You are on a horse, galloping at a constant speed. On your right is a sharp drop off, and on your left is an elephant thundering along at the same speed as you. Directly infront of you is a galloping kangaroo and your horse is unable to overtake it. Behind you is a lion running at the same speed as you and the kangaroo. What must you do to safely get out of this highly dangerous situation?

Until you reach the middle of the forest, then you can only walk out of it.

I admit, I googled the answer, but it has been waaay too long.

Here's a new brain teaser.

Police are investigating a murder that happened.
They don't know who the suspect is, but they only have one clue to go on:
They only know the suspect's name is John.
They finally manage to trace him to a room.
The police bust the door open to find a fireman, a carpenter and a nurse playing cards.

Without saying a word, the police grab the fireman and arrest him for the murder.

How do the police know that they have got their suspect?

The carpenter and nurse were both women, so the police figured the fireman must be John.
