With the latest release of Wine do you think we'll see a port anytime soon ?

No. Wine still lacks support of DirectX10.

Hi guys - sorry to keep this one alive, but i read somewhere that a OpenCL og OpenGL update in mountain lion could make it possible to make a Direct X 10 / 11 compatible wrapper, at some point.

Does anyone know if that is true, and if there is any development in this area?
This is not only interesting for Battlefield 3, as many new games require Direct X 10 / 11 to run on high or ultra graphics settings - but it seems this thread has a lot of attention, so thought this might be the right place :-)

Uh, no. DX10, DX11, and other DirectX dlls are not perfect on Wine. See http://www.winehq.or.../status/directx, http://wiki.winehq.org/DirectX-ToDo and http://www.winehq.or...ctX 10 For SoC? Ofc, wine developers are working on it.

I have heard something that porting this would be pure impossibility. Otherwise would be cool to have this game working :)

A long time, most likely. Please, quit bugging. When DX10/11 comes it will come, and then we can all have a field day and talk about it and how awesome and whatnots. Until then, just fantasize about that and stuff. It's just impossible at the moment.

Thats just the engine though so bf3 will still be a no no. Unless you want to beg EA for source code for bf3 then your one set ahead of everyone.

Even if there was a port 90% of macs wouldn't be able to run the game anyways . The only macs capable of running bf3 decently are the iMac 27"  2010 - 2012 , Mac Pro , and the Macbook pro retina . I don't think they will even attempt a port since many older macs which make up a majority of all  apple's computer market share barely have the hardware to run the game .

Dude bf3 isn't hard to run at all in windows on mac as my mbp did fine on low...but ya a port would be pretty horrible but I think 2011+ high end macs could play it easily.
