Bioshock 2 just came out, I loved the first one, would like to play the new one, considering that it took them around 2 years from the PC release to release the Mac Version for Bioshock 1. I'm guessing it would be a lot faster and easier to ask you fine gents to provide us with a port for this game.
Thank you in advance.

Game Description:
BioShock 2 is a first-person shooter video game developed by 2K Marin for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 video game consoles, and the Windows operating system.[7][8] It is the sequel to the 2007 video game BioShock. The game was released worldwide on February 9, 2010.

The game is set in the fictional underwater dystopia of Rapture, in a biopunk/dieselpunk 1968, eight years after the events of BioShock. The protagonist and player-controlled character is a Big Daddy, a being that has had its organs and skin grafted into an atmospheric diving suit. Among the first of its kind, the player-controlled Big Daddy, named Subject Delta, reactivates with no recollection of the past decade's events, and scours the city in an attempt to relocate the Little Sister that he was paired with. Fearing this reunion will ruin her plans for the city, Sofia Lamb sends out her spliced up followers that she calls The Rapture Family and new Big Sisters in an attempt to deter Delta.

Bioshock 2 is using the same engine like the first one.
So maybe its possible to port the game with a wineskin :)

I just thought now that it might be a good idea to use the Official port of Bioshock 1 to run Bioshock 2 since they probably have the same engine and structure. But I took a look just now at the Bioshock 1 port and the structure is completely different. I can't make anything of it... I doubt it's usable. But i thought i should mention the idea here. Maybe to someone more skilled then me it might be helpful.

Bioshock 1 is a native Mac app not ported using wine. GFWL does not work in wine unless someone makes a hack on the PC side to remove it like they did for Fallout 3.

I tried porting this today using wineskin with some success. The launcher worked but when it started the game it told me that "Games For Windows- Live failed to load due to non-secure application". I believe this is because I wasn't able to install everything but the 3.5 .NET framework. It sucks because I think that it is only needed for the Games For Windows Live component of the game. Does anyone know how to install it using Wineskin RC7? Theoretically, according to the Wine HQ site, it should install in this wine version but when I installed (after installing 2.0 and 3.0 first) it told me it couldn't install a component. Any ideas?

Yeah, if we had a disabler than we could get around having to install the latest .NET frameworks. Has anyone successfully got the latest Games For Windows running (or at least even .NET 3.5?)

I could get it installed, but it won't run without the framework. I guess we have to wait until wine can run it (I tried with the latest wine) or a G4WL disabler is released. :-(

maybe Feral is going to port Bioshock 2 in less than 1 year because both of the games use the same engine. They poted it once, now they know how to get it done.

The Native Bioshock 1 game is the actual windows files with the acception of the binaries so there is no way to decompile those and re write them to work

I don't know if Anyone else has tried to port it via Cider but I'm actually having a lot of troubles with the SecuLauncher. I think I've posted the exact problem on another post around here, if someone can help.

Hey guys,
i really think we should give this another shot since the older post died out almost half a year ago now... and there's a load of Xlive dissablers out now

dec09- viewtopic.php?f=125&t=3594&p=29204&hilit=bioshock+2#p29204

I had a go at this recently with wine Xover nd CZX, obviously no luck, but (annoying) i did get somewhere i almost got to the main menu!- ish, in the sense that as i held it up in the air with total glory it crashed :P
I cant remember exactly how i did this, due it being on someone else's macbook pro(same as mine), but i think i used a lot of shiz from the Bioshock 1 for mac and lobbed in a few different Xlive dissablers. I assume the only guys that are gana get this to work (other than feral) are all here :)

thanks
Aaron

Ive been working on a cider port of the original Bioshock, It runs much better than the native version and has better graphics aswell (Ive been playing through on Max DX9 settings). I just need to get DirectX10 working with it.

Ive been trying to port this in a Wineskin wrapper, got through the cutscenes (the key is to NOT skip them ) and cashes on the menu.

Once i get the DirectX10 working properly in the cider wrapper (a few hickups), Ill give Bioshock 2 a shot in it.

In what way does it look\run better? I'd like to see some screenshot comparisons. If your wrapper already looks\runs better why not post it so we can see for ourselves? On my computer the native version looks just as good as when I played it on Windows especially after I tweaked the ini files.
