Hi guys,

i'm new here, but i would like to tell you about my new application that i've made (and that i'm also updating it with a new nice gui). It's called iPoPS.
This application is for modded PSP which have a Custom Firmware which can permit to play with your original PSX games. It can convert your CD directly (or your ISO if you already have one) to a bootable EBOOT for you PSP, so you can finally convert them without the need to use Wine to use Windows tools or Prometeus with it's limits :) You can customize it too: you can full set the title of the game, the ID (so if it's Multi-Disc you don't have to worry about it), custom icon, background and so on.
And of course, it's totally open source, if you want you can contribute by upgrading it directly or sending me patches you've made to inegrate them on the official tree.
Finally, i hope you will like it, if you have any suggestion please don't forget to tell me by replying to this post, sending me a PM or an email.

UPDATE 7/11/2009:
Sorry for my long silence but i was busy with my real life and finally i've found some time to update iPoPS, that now have reached version 1.1. I've fixed some bugs and added the compress feature. As always you can grab your build (Intel only) or the sources (for PPC guys) on http://www.ipops.tk. Enjoy :)

UPDATE 14/11/2009:
Another update to iPoPS this time, that brings it to v1.2. This is the changelog:

Version 1.2
- Added the support for IMG and BIN disk images *NEW*
- Added the support for JPG, BMP and GIF images (when you select an icon or background picture) *NEW*
- Some minor aesthetic changes (to fit the support for new disk image and pictures) *NEW*

I hope you will like this one as the other one. :)

UPDATE 21/11/2009:
Another weekly update of iPoPS which bring it to v1.2.1.
This is the changelog:

Version 1.2.1
- Fixed some bugs on detecting CD Type. Now it handle all PSX CD Types
- Managed some errors (with detailed messagges)

UPDATE 27/11/2009:
Again, another update to iPoPS which i HIGHLY advice users to update to.
This is the changelog:

Version 1.2.2
- Fixed an error that occours when it try to create an image of the CD when the drive is busy. Thanks to _Em of MacScene for the tip! *NEW*
- Fixed some error strings *NEW*

Update as soon as possible. Thanks :)

The official website where you can get it is: http://www.ipops.tk.

See you soon, with the new version :)

Wow, very nice app.
I'm pondering if i should get a PSP just to play some old classics again.

Has somebody gotten the custom firmware on the new PSPgo already?
That UMD-Drive in the original PSP was always a thorn in my eye...

Well personally i've got a slim one with umd and i like it very much, and i think it would be VERY difficult to put a CFW on it, but i don't mean it WOULD NOT be impossible :)

If you're going to buy one be sure that can be modded by pandora (psp phats and slims apart the TA-088V3) or can be temporarely hacked by ChickHEN (be sure to have a firmware <= 5.03).

Devilhunter : i think the psp go is just the 3000 firmware if you make the pandoras battery for it you should be able to flash it

Nice, I have a pspphat, one of the first ones out :P was thinking about trying to get a newer one. If you have a pandoras battery will you definitely be able to flash it? I still have the one I made for my psp phat. I'm guessing the current magic memory stick or what it was called isn't any use for the newer firmwares...

Pandora battery trick works only for PSP Phats (anyone) and slims (apart the last with TA-088v3 and TA-090v1 mobos). It does not work in any way on PSP 3000 (know also as TA-090v2 mobo). PSPGo is too new to be customized already, but maybe someone will do it, who knows.
If you get a new psp (slim or 3k) be sure to have a firmware lower or equal to 5.03 so you can run Custom Firmware Enabler (or GEN if you're a fan of it) to play PSX games and more :)

Anyway, if you have cocoa skills feel free to contribute on the iPoPS project :) For example i need a way to get the list of files from an ISO: how can i do it?

damn firmware has reached the 5.0 build? I really need to update! :P

List of files from an ISO? Do you mean what is inside? You can view it in finder just by mounting it using toast.

No i mean by using cocoa tecniques (programming things) and i would like to do it by not using automator things or something else :) Just pure cocoa objects (like NSWindow for example).

Anyway if you like M33 relases you can put 5.50 MHU relase :) which is a M33 plus things added on 5.50 official firmware :)

EDIT: Updated the group of the mod

hopefully not a totally inappropriate place to ask.. as i assume you have some experience with PSP ...

but Is it possible to get a Remotejoy light to work on MAc..  (one that includes external controller input like the popular windows one.

I would very much like to play the new Monster Hunter Portable 3.. on my Macintosh screen with a external Wii classic controller connected up with Darwiinremote..

all the Current Mac remote joy solutions i have found/tryed seem to lack controller input.. and are vastly more clunky than the windows one.. or use a urshell approach?..

You can always use ControllerMate, GamePad Companion, or USB Overdrive to add gamepad support to any app.
