I dont see how you people got the game to run in Mac osx .
I just get these errors :

hmtinc,

You are using the sream version?
What do you use to port (i guess a steam wrapper) and what extra's or winetricks did you install or enable? I can't relate what's in your log, probably someone else can around here, for sure.

I am also having trouble, for me it crashes on launch, and I am using a SKIDROW version.

I used a Skidrow version in my attempt at porting the game. Perhaps skidrow just doesn't port properly at all? I'm not entirely sure. Whatever the case may be, it should be portable to Wine (the Steam version at least) because when I checked it on the database I swear it said Platinum, but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong

There are some SKIDROW versions of games that work fairly well such as Ninja Blade (I get frame rate issues though), Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning  (also with frame rate issues stupid AMD chips).

Yes, the SKIDROW + Theta crack is what I've heard works the best...the thing is, I couldn't get it to work period when I installed it into a wrapper I made straight from Wineskin.

This game works almost perfectly in Parallels  Desktop with some minor graphical problems during the starting, but none further in. There also some minor lag once in a while, but it does not make it unplayable. As with the awc.dl load error, it seems to be a wine issue as I am using the SKIDROW release with the Theta crack, and the error does not appear. Maybe wine has a problem installing something that the game needs to launch, as the awc.dll error is a exe error, it seems the exe needs the awc.dll to launch.

I'd really love to see this game ported, i'd try it myself but i have no porting experience at all. Maybe it will be easier now with recent advancements in wineskin? I've got the skidrow version, but that might be a problem won't it? Either way if you ask me a working port would be the best way to go but if that wont work i suppose i could just dualboot and run it on that. Would love to see it running on OS X though but cant find any port anywhere.

we can make a 'port-in-progress' project to share our knowledge here (in de right topic section) and attrack the help of the experienced. They are around here, so. Let's port this sucker! meanwhile wine is update several times, who knows it can help

The problem I actually have is that if I try to open the game in windows 7 via parallels it's not working either :D
And in the EA origin forum they say that there are some major bugs in the game so it could be possible that you can't play it.
But they are "working on it" ... how they call it, I can't see any progress since last year.

So first of all I'll try to bring my Windows version to life before triing to port it :b

BTW

The "awc.dll load failed" bug exists on windows as well, and in the app-database they changed the rating to silver from platinum.

Excellent, i might try a rough attempt at porting the game as soon as i get the chance; just to see what bugs and errors i get. The way i see it the more data we have the better.

guess i'll give this a shot too lads!

Edit: No dice... I found a crack that didn't seem to get the awc.dll error but yet wine crashes at launch. I've tried several wrappers and engines, all of which had vcrun, xact, windows 7 and .net installed... still a no go.

The game has DRM; even steam version do.
I've tried like 5 different cracks, and all failed.
I own the game legal on both Origin and Steam, still I cannot play it in wine.

Screw you EA!

I'm really against piracy, but I'm starting to think I gonna make an exception with EA, I'm too tried with their poop.
I legally own pretty much all their titles.. (Crysis (all except 3), Mass Effect (all), Dragon Age (all), Dark Spore, Sims 3, Mirrors Edge, C&C (pretty much all), Sim City 4, etc...)

Ok, i gave porting it a try and now i've got lots of data to work with. I cant personally make sense of most of it but it seems important and useful. i ran a few test runs and cam up with this

The parts of this that i can understand are that the system cant find x3DAudio1_.dll or XAPOFX1_4.dll and it cant load awc.dll (which i happen to know is part of EA's DRM) I'm going to do some more research on this because it seems very similar to some other issues i've had installing in windows, problems that i was able to fix.

Means it can't find the dlls, and hence it can't execute the game.
Try executing directx9 in winetricks for x3d and xapofx. As for awc it's gotta be from the crack.

Thanks for the advice southtuna, i managed to get it to say that the dlls failed to load instead of it couldn't find them by pulling them out of an existing windows install, but it didnt really work so ill try what you said instead and see if it works any better. The problems this game has seem to be just a handful of small issues that keep it from running; i dont think its unportable. i believe they can be fixed.

Ok, this is starting to remind me a bit of a class i once took in object oriented coding, but i can handle that. In a process very similar to manually debugging i've made some progress. I had the idea to install directx manually into the wrapper before the game and that fixed up the x3d and xapofx bugs. All that remains now is the awc.dll bug and one other error that i suspect might be related to it. I'm down from five bugs to two.

I did some research and made an interesting discovery about awc.dll. In most cases i can find of it not working in windows, the problem was bizarrely fixed by uninstalling the game, installing adobe air, and reinstalling the game. Since wineskin seems to operate by building a windows file directory within a mac app, i believe that i may be able to do this (very similar to what i did with directx) I'll give my theory a try as soon as i can get ahold of a copy of adobe air, then ill post my findings here.

That sounds like a promising challence. I'll try a wineskin version with this approach, when I have some time. Maybe someone can do this with a cider version? if posible.
thx

My windows version is running fine. Perhaps your problem has something to do with physX? Alice relies heavily upon it, I had some trouble with it when i installed but i managed to fix it. Do you have the latest version? If not try this.

But I will try updating the drivers, maybe it'll help :)
