In order for people to help you, you are going to need to give a bit more information than that. Ideally, you should mention: what the dmg file is compressed as (.7z, .zip, .001)... Also, do you get any errors when trying to decompress/open the disk image?

Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."

dmg files aren't supposed to expand, they are disk images.  They mount and show up just like if you had plugged in a USB drive.

Well that's peculiar.

You're going to need more info than that if you want help, as Dan said. Don't be lazy.

What kind of mac are you using?

What is your version?

What .dmg are you trying to open?

Is it from this website?

What is the file called?

etc.

Use 7-zip - Open 7-zip or an equivalent such as Mac Hacha or Split and Concat, etc - a good 7-zip port can be found here: http://portingteam.c...ile/5804-7-zip/ or a native version can be found here: http://download.cnet...50_4-89405.html.

I always preferred to use Zipeg, but yeah, 7zip works too.
