LOL thanks xD

Anyway I solved the problem, with my own custom wine engine, I get about 30 fps

I doubt you get 30 FPS, but I'm glad you got some performance you're happy with.
The 2400XT is so far behind minimum that Rockstar lists that I would doubt it would even run at all, rockstar is kinda know for making games so unoptimized that even highend pcs have issues getting stable FPS.

Just to keep you up-to-date. I am working on it and I have made progress. I just do not have anything to show off jet, since I am a bit more busy, since my studies have started. I hope to be able to show you guys something pretty soon.

Posted cluthz on 24 October 2012 - 03:16 AM

There is no iMac with GTX680, there is only GTX675MX and GTX680MX.
A GTX680 is thicker then the entire iMac.
The 680MX core runs at 720Mhz, a GTX680 is running on 1006MHz.
The GTX680 has 6000MHz VRAM, the GTX680MX has 2500MHz.

#90165 The Witcher 2, now officially on Mac! +50 Mac games on GOG.com

Posted cluthz on 18 October 2012 - 09:33 PM

I'm gonna download it tonight. It will hopefully run very decently on my machine.
I have already finished the game, but that was before the 8GB enchanted expansion, so I guess there is some new content i haven't tried.
But first i need to finally finish Xenoblade.. (damn this game is loooong, but so great!)

I think there is too much purple in it to be ported. Wine doesn't play nice with games where too many people wear purple.

Anyways, back to being serious.

The game does use DRM and there is no good cracks that I found.
Also even on windows the game needs serious hardware to run fine and I suspect a port will kill performance on just about any mac.

I posted that in my big paragraph, it should somewhat help you out with your motherboard!

It seems that around $1200 +tax will give you the best build on that site. Cutting it to $1100 and get a 660Ti is possible.
Cutting more than that and you are loosing performance by a lot or getting substandard PSU, RAM, Case.

$1200 is really the sweet spot. In you cut to $1000 you're down 30% performance. If you go to $2500 you'll gain 10% performance :P

Please, do not just list components you like because of the color or whatever.
I did upgrade my hack 6 weeks ago and did much research on the parts.
There are ONLY 3 100% compatible hackingtosh (Z77) mobos on the market:
Z77-DS3H, Z77X-UD5H, Z77X-UP5, there are some H77 and B75 mobs, but if you want a gaming rig, get a Z-board.

1) Arctic siver 5 is not as good as Arctic MX4. It does cool the same, but it has a 14 day break-in and it is conductive, so if you spill on the mobo, you're screwed. It still sells well because people have used this back in the early 2000s, but these days it's not as good as the rest. Well it does cool as good, but it has it's disadvantages.

2) The Motherboard you link is a micro ATX, and is not hack compatible, and is meant in small desktops or very small towers that can't fit an ATX board!

3) Thermaltake 2.0 Performer is same cooler as Antec 620. They are identical except the logo. (both made by asetek)
However the 620 is on sale on the site, so it's $10 less. It is however a good cooler, but why not get an Antec 620 when the antic costs less?

4) I have no idea about the DVD burner, usually Opticarcs or Samsungs are preferred. I however have a Samsung TSS something (can't remember exact model)

5) The Gigabyte Windforce 660Ti costs the same, but it has improved cooling and better factory clocks.

To elaborate on what cluthz said on z68 needing a dsdt is half correct as some the the z68 boards from gigabyte have gotten uefi updates which allow the board sleep mode and all the stuff without the need of a dsdt.

This is true, but I've seen several reports from both insanelymac and tonymac that there are some issues with it.
It is by all means a very good list, it's just that a Z77 board is sightly better and will work out of the box.

First game i ever bought! Me and my friend had saved up our allowances for weeks to get it!
Played on my fathers Mac IIsi and my friend had some sort of LC/Performa.
I think we used almost half a year to finish it, because we didn't know english much then.
