#88772 [Steam] Borderlands 2 Thread

Posted thanoulas on 18 September 2012 - 09:37 PM

There are still a few kinks that I'd want to sort out in the wrapper, but the game plays pretty well as far as I've went. I haven't tried multiplayer yet.
The damn Options menu seems to have a life of its own. Might be a crack issue, or an actual bug with the game. I'm now creating a nice custom launcher / configuration tool that is going to have MANY options for graphics etc.

...yeah it does

Not the normal multiplayer, which is GameSpy, you can however play on GameRanger instead, as tetsu points out.

As for Duke Nukem Forever, I do believe the mac version was announced around PC release?
Seeing that even small devs manage to put out Mac versions from UE3 games, I still am amazed that big companies can't..

#90211 HiRez Games Launcher (Tribes Ascend)

Posted thanoulas on 19 October 2012 - 08:29 AM

So, I've managed to make the launcher connect to the service (I'm now talking about pure wine, not my own launcher).
It downloads the game fine, extracts the files, and then tries to decompress something. I got an error decompressing, but maybe I can fix that with some winetrick.
I tried running the game after that, and it starts, but it complains that some files are missing (obviously)
I guess at this point the game would be playable if someone tried to install on bootcamp or parallels and move the needed files in the wrapper. But you all know, that's not good enough for me. I hope I'll find a solution today, if not, I'll upload the wrapper here for some help, hopefully someone can make it run properly

I think there is too much purple in it to be ported. Wine doesn't play nice with games where too many people wear purple.

Anyways, back to being serious.

The game does use DRM and there is no good cracks that I found.
Also even on windows the game needs serious hardware to run fine and I suspect a port will kill performance on just about any mac.

So is anyone still interested in this? I think I might just have ported this game. Waiting to install now... :)

say so about what ?
Dishonered runs on AMD if you use a AMD speed hack except it lags like hell , this makes  The game is virtually unplayable for AMD users in wine . The only way they might get performance is trough boot camp or cider . Sadly this is the story for most AMD users who want to play games on mac using vanilla wine . This is why i said Gaming on Mac osx with AMD is dead because AMD users cant just keep on using old engines all the time and not all games work with cider and amd speed hack . \

to be clear, I've been running an AMD card for years and this is the first major game I've had issues of this kind with. many graphically-intense ports -- Skyrim, Fallout, etc -- have worked perfectly for me in Wine with no particular AMD fixes. so saying "gaming on mac with amd is practicly dead" isn't the most truthful statement.

I'll post if I have any luck with a cider port...

GT 630, 2GB GDDR3, PCI-E w/ Dual DVI, HDMI
GT 630 is not very good because It's weak like part of laptop and Intel HD 4000. GTX is faster than GT. True story, bro. That's it.

Edit: GameGuy's list is good. It has VERY good video card too.

#75204 [Wine 1.5.5] RawMac2 Engine

Posted thanoulas on 14 March 2012 - 03:41 PM

UPDATED: 1 June 2012 - RawMac2 Engine
- New patch applied for Raw3.patch so the mouse warps around the x axis
- Should increase compatibility with games that were not working
- Based on latest GIT branch (post 1.5.5 tag)
- Now supports windowed mode (Tested with virtual desktop, as long as the window has focus it should warp)
- New name for the engine! RawMac2

UPDATED: 17 March 2012 - New Wine 1.5
- Wine 1.5 Development is now available - Added new Links

Initial Public Release:
This is the latest wine from the trunk with:
Raw3.patch (enables mouse cursor for games that use Raw input)
RawWarpPatch (my change to the code because raw patch had limited mouse mouvement, it now warps the cursor around the x axis)
ATi Patch - Fixes all GLSL Shader problems (on SL / Lion at least)
Built --without-xinput2 because there is no proper support of xinput2 in osx and just breaks the cursor

plus this one has a partial implementation of wbem proxy, many games depend on that (i.e. NFS Hot Pursuit)
